Eddie House Signed with Miami Heat, Returns After Miami Drafted Him in 2000

Eddie House has signed with the Miami Heat for the 2010-11 season. That the Miami Heat signed Eddie House is interesting, because it really gives the Heat a spark off the bench that could end up being huge when the Miami Heat are in the 2011 NBA Playoffs. House is the type of role-player every team in the NBA wants to have, and he just inked a two-year deal that could end up bringing him two championship rings. If the first two years turn out well, you might even expect a third year to work its way into fruition.

According to ESPN, the Heat has signed House for the next two years, paying him a total contract of just $2.8 million. If these terms are correct, that would make House one of the steals of this free-agent market, especially with the energy that he could provide off of the bench in the 2010-11 season. The question has been raised many times about whether the Heat would have anything other than the big three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh, and the signing of House is another step in the right direction. He is a complementary player, and that should work really well when one of the big three gets the ball and kicks it out to a three-point shooter.

House finished last season with the New York Knicks after he was traded for Nate Robinson in a deal with the Boston Celtics. The year prior, House won an NBA ring with the Celtics, and had been one of those players coming off the bench who could be trusted with the ball in crunch time. If the Heat ever decide to try running with a smaller lineup, with Bosh sliding over to the center spot, House could be great on the floor with the three big names. It shouldn't even be a surprise if House is in the running for sixth man of the year this season.

The Miami Heat is quietly putting together a pretty impressive supporting cast for this season, even if the players aren't the biggest names in the game. House joins a group that includes Mike Miller, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Udonis Haslem, Carlos Arroyo, Mario Chalmers, and Jamaal Magloire. The 2010-11 Miami Heat just seem to be getting the right pieces to agree to pay cuts down in South Beach, and the team is getting even more exciting on paper. Don't be surprised if they are playing in the 2011 NBA Finals.

That's a really good pickup. Their bench will have Miller, House, Haslem, Arroyo/Chalmers, and Anthony/Big Z. That's very effective.
