Eddie Murphy Movie NowhereLand Looking for Extras in Denver

All Types Needed, Especially Skate Boarders, Basketball Players and Ice Skaters

The major motion picture "NowhereLand" starring Eddie Murphy will, according the casting call by Farrell Talent Management at www.denverextras.com, begin shooting on September 30, and continue through October 12, 2007, as noted in the Denver Film Society email bulletin. The film requires 1000+ paid extras, all types, sizes and ages. Some need to be ice skaters, basketball players and skateboarders.

To get in on the casting call, the website says that the Hyatt Regency Tech Center is the place to be, this weekend (September 15 and 16) anytime between 2 pm and 7 pm each day. They say that you don't need to be there both days, but you do need to be there to sign up, since important information will be given out at that time.

The agency requests repeatedly that candidates not call the Hyatt for information on the casting call, and also indicates that people should not call the agency itself about extra work. There is an area where selected extras can log in and communicate with them on the webpage.

The call is simple - download, print, and fill out a form, bring a pen, and optionally bring a picture they can keep, and resume. Resumes aren't required, and they will take a Polaroid if you don't bring a picture.

The form asks some routine information such as wardrobe sizes and measurements, height, weight, eye and hair color (and hair length) and union status if any, but there are some specific questions which they emphasize, including what kind of vehicle you have, if you have any of the skills mentioned above ("fairly good/competent or above") especially ice skating, and if you have any conflicts during the shooting schedule of September 30 through October 12. They also ask what languages you are fluent in.

An article in August in the Denver Post says that NowhereLand is a fantasy world where the character played by Eddie Murphy, a money manager with a failing career, and his daughter seek refuge. It could be a fantasy come true for those who join him as extras in the film at the end of this month. Filming is supposed to have begun in Los Angeles already, with Karey Kirkpatrick directed, whose writing and directing credits, according to the Denver Post, include "Over the Hedge," "Chicken Run," and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

In addition to the thousand-plus extras, the film is expected to generate a large number of jobs in Denver. The mayor, John Hickenlooper, is quoted by the Post as saying that last year, more than 4,000 jobs were created in Denver by filming going on in the city, and that was with an independent production, "Looking for Sunday," which was filmed entirely in Denver.

The rush is on! Farrell Talent Management says to "Just come down any time and sing up to have fun!"
