Eddie Van Halen Weds Janie Liszewski; Plans New Music

New Van Halen Album with David Lee Roth in the Works?

Saul Relative
Eddie Van Halen just got married and he's also talking about recording with David Lee Roth. Perhaps that stint in rehab did him some good after all. He certainly seems to be making better decisions.

Eddie Van Halen married Janie Liszewski Saturday in his own back yard above Studio City, California. The 54-year-old guitar master made it a casual family affair, wearing an untucked shirt and flip-flops. In fact, the entire wedding party wore flip-flops, according to People.com, who had an exclusive invitation to the wedding. Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang, was best man and the wedding was presided over by ordained minister Alex Van Halen.

Janie Liszewski, 39, wore a champagne and pink custom-designed Hanna Hartnell gown with matching Bulgari earrings and bracelet -- and flip-flops. Her sister, Jennifer, served as maid of honor.

The music for the 20-minute ceremony? Van Halen, of course. "When It's Love" was performed by the Sonus Quartet.

Valerie Bertinelli, Eddie's ex-wife and mother of Wolfgang, was also in attendance with roughly 100 other guests. Bertinelli and Eddie divorced in 2006 after 25 years of marriage.

After getting sober, beating cancer, and having hip replacement surgery in the past decade, Eddie Van Halen seems to be a bit more active than usual. Rehab and love has that effect on some people, apparently. The guitar virtuoso also granted Spinner.com a rare interview before the wedding, telling them he has lots of recorded material and if David Lee Roth is up for it, he wants to get back in the studio for another album. It will be the first full-length album recorded with Diamond David Lee Roth in 25 years.

He said, "I hope that after Janie and I get married in June and Wolfie graduates that we sit down and discuss recording new music, which I have tons of, if Dave's up for singing ... and then do another tour and just see where it takes us."

Hopefully, David Lee Roth will be up for it. Although there exists a great debate over whether the Van Halen with David Lee Roth was better than the Van Halen with Sammy Hagar, many Van Halen fans could care less, love both incarnations, and just want the guys to get back into the studio and record some new material. (This writer included.)

Of course, the music will have to wait until after the honeymoon. Eddie and the former Janie Liszewski -- the new Mrs. Janie Van Halen -- plan to go to New York, Germany and the Netherlands (Eddie's birthplace).

The only question this writer has? Did Alex Van Halen resist doing a drumroll during the "You may kiss the bride" part of the ceremony?

Eddie wasn't looking too good last time I saw him during his battle with oral cancer. The band should never have let David LR go. He was the genius front man while Eddie has the magic fingers.

I hope this works out for the Mighty "E"! Not just the marriage, but the David Lee project (I swear, those two FIGHT like they're married, no?)
