Edgar Allan Poe, (born January 19, 1809, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.-died October 7, 1849, Baltimore, Maryland) American short-story writer, poet, critic, and editor who is famous for his cultivation of mystery and the macabre. His tale "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" (1841) initiated the modern detective story, and the atmosphere in his tales of horror is unrivaled in American fiction. His "The Raven" (1845) numbers among the best-known poems in the national literature.

    Edgar Allan Poe showed his love for horror and pervese mind when he worte-he is not insaign, he is far from it. He is briliant.
    He knows what it takes to steal the readers attention and hold onto it-and when the stroy is finished they ache for more-like a vampire kills for the taste of blood...

    Great quotes, in high school I really enjoyed Edgar Allan Poe. It inspired be to write a paper about insanity, as if I were insane! I tried to convince my teacher to give me an A! Got a B :D
