Edge Announces His Retirement from the WWE

Spy Radio
On tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw, Edge announced his retirement. Edge let the WWE Universe know that eight years ago he had neck surgery. As a result of the surgery he was running on borrowed time. Time finally caught up with Edge when he started feeling pain and numbness in his arms. Edge wanted to make sure he was capable of competing at Wrestle Mania XXVII, so he went in for some tests. Edge passed those tests and went on to defeat Albert Del Rio at Wrestle Mania XXVII.

After Wrestle Mania XXVII, the WWE was concerned about Edge's health. They asked Edge to go in for more tests. Edge accepted the offer and went in for more tests. After doing more tests the doctors recommended that Edge retire, unless he plans on spending the rest of his life in a wheel chair. Edge followed the doctors orders and announced his retirement to the WWE Universe. Although Edge's career was cut short, he claimed he would do it all over again if given the opportunity.

Here are some career highlights to remember him by:

1. Edge captured 31 Championships in the WWE.

- 4 WWE Championships

- 7 World Heavyweight Championships

- 5 Intercontinental Championships

- 1 United States Championship

- 12 World Tag Team Championships

- 2 WWE Tag Team Championships

2. Edge is the only wrestler to win each of the following matches: King of the Ring (2001), Money in the Bank Ladder Match (2005), and the Royal Rumble Match (2010).

3. Edge retired as the World Heavyweight Champion.

Leroy, because Edge retired due to medical reasons I doubt he will be back. He might make a few appearances but I don’t see him ever wrestling again.

It was a wise though tough decision to come to. But health comes first.

I'm really gonna miss Edge. :( I've been a fan since his debut, with the "Edge is coming!" videos. It won't be the same without him, and I wish him well!
