Edge's 10 Best Wrestling Matches in WWE

Lee Andrew Henderson
WWE Superstar Edge shocked the WWE Universe when he abruptly announced he was forced to retire due to complication from an injured neck that he broke eight years ago. In a business where wrestlers often wrestle well into their 40's Edge was forced to retire at the ripe age of 37. That didn't stop Edge from accomplishing a lot though. In his illustrious career Edge won more titles than anybody in WWE history. Obviously a wrestler of that stature competed in many great matches and these were Edge's ten best.

10. Edge vs. The Undertaker - Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match (One Night Stand 2008)
The tables, ladders and chairs match was a fun match that took place during the best feud of 2008. The one minor grip that keeps it from being as good as some of the other matches is that it was overbooked for a match that would have been perfectly good as a straight up singles match.

9. Edge vs. Matt Hardy - Cage Match (Unforgiven 2005)
Edge and Matt Hardy had many classic battles in tag team matches but in 2005 the two took part in a heated that feud that came about after a real life situation where Matt Hardy's girlfriend cheated on him with Edge. The real life love triangle made the perfect setup for a cage match.

8. Edge vs. Ric Flair - Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match (Monday Night Raw)
Credit has to be given to Ric Flair who decided to bump like a mad man even though he was about 372 years old at the time. Still it was up to Edge to carry a very old man to a really great match.

7. Edge vs. Chris Benoit - Last Man Standing (Backlash 2005)
It's understandable why the WWE has distanced themselves from Chris Benoit but it's also unfortunate he has been completely wiped from their record books. Every wrestler in Benoit's era had one of their ten best matches against Benoit and Edge is no different from the rest of them.

6. Edge vs. Shawn Michaels - Street Fight (Monday Night Raw)
Normally the wrestlers in the WWE pull out all their best work for a PPV but occasionally an epic match takes place on free television. That is what happened when Edge and Shawn Michaels faced each other on Monday Night Raw in a Street Fight. To this day the Shawn Michaels and Edge street fight is one of the ten best matches that took place on Raw.

5. Edge vs. Mick Foley - Hardcore Match (Wrestlemania 22)
The Hardcore match between Edge and Mick Foley wasn't quite Edge's best match but it might have been the most important in his career. Previously Edge was seen mainly as a tag team wrestler that would go on to have a singles career on the Intercontinental level but by defeating Foley at his own game Edge announced himself as a real player in the WWE.

4. Edge & Christian vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. The Hardy Boyz - Triangle Ladder Match (Wrestlemania 2000)
Were you expecting the TLC matches? Most people forget that before the TLC matches Edge & Christian, the Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz competed in a triangle ladder match. It was the match that put this epic feud on the map. The original match also had the most original uses of the ladder and was better paced and not just a spotfest like the TLC matches.

3. Edge vs. The Undertaker (Wrestlemania XXIV)
During Edge's retirement speech he talked about once being a fan of the WWE watching Hulk Hogan and then about 20 years later he got to wrestle the Undertaker at Wrestlemania. By mentioning that match specifically it is clear that it is at least the most important match in Edge's career. Nothing signifies your significance in the WWE more than being allowed to wrestle the Undertaker at Wrestlemania.

2. Edge & Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle - 2/3 Falls Match (Smackdown)
At one point in time there was a group of Smackdown wrestlers known as the "Smackdown Six". Each week any combination of Edge, Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero and Chavo Guerrero could be inserted into a match and the match would be great. Out of all the Smackdown Six matches none was as good as the best two out of three falls match that took place between the team of Edge and Rey Mysterio and the team of Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle.

1. Edge vs. Eddie Guerrero - Street Fight (Smackdown)
When the WWE first decided to split into a Raw roster and a Smackdown roster the angle was that the two were competing against each other. The imaginary competition led to both sides taking their game to another level. One of the matches that resulted from that angle was Edge and Eddie Guerrero facing each other in a street fight. The match is the best in Edge's career and one of the best matches in Smackdown history.
