Edible Wedding Favor Trends for the 2011 Bride and Groom

S Faloon
Wedding favors are small gifts of appreciation that the bride and groom prepare for their guests. The 2011 wedding year favor trend leans toward edible treats. Boxes and bags are custom printed with the wedding date along with the bride and groom's names for a favor container. The couple can choose favor containers that suit their decor and personal style including formal groom tuxedo, white wedding dress card stock container, monogrammed boxes or cellophane bags. The themed wedding favor may also be place into an enchanted carriage, silver chair or mini take-out box.
Candy is a popular favor trend as one decade flows into another. Lollipops, candy bars, personalized M&M's and retro candies are preferred by many brides and grooms along with their guests. Complete candy displays that rival a candy store counter are set up at indoor and outdoor weddings. Guests choose bags or cups of favorite candies to enjoy as take-home treats.
Cupcakes are still riding high as a wrapped or boxed favor treat. Specialty flavors, toppings and wedding design liners or wrappers add decorative touches to the individual treats.
Cake pops are a one bite treat that is becoming increasingly popular. Decorated cake, brownie and macaroon bites are presented on a stick in lollipop fashion. The pops are wrapped and placed on the guest napkin or set into decorative displays in plant pots or baskets.
The amazing number one wedding favor predicted for the 2011 bride is the whoopie pie. The surprising choice is a good one. Most guests will appreciate having the delicious traditional chocolate cake sandwich wrapped in a decorative cellophane sleeve for a late wedding night or day-after treat. Whoopie pies are made in a variety of yummy flavors including pumpkin, chocolate chip, raspberry and vanilla with flavored fillings. The do-it-yourself couple can bake and prepare small to large whoopie pies ahead of the big day. The favors can be arranged on trays or tiered cake plates. Name tags can be affixed to the wrapper and placed at each table setting for an edible decorative touch at the reception.
Edible wedding treats are reminiscent of the miniature boxes of groom's cake that each guest took home from the wedding of the 2011 bride's great-grandparents. Favors are often left behind in the wake of the clean-up after a wedding. Delicious edible favors are rarely discarded and may not make it through the reception.

We attended a wedding where the couple had a candy'Bar' and you could fill up a little bag with your favorites. Fun idea. Thanks S.
