Open your program and we will get started. You will also need to open the photo that you are going to apply the effects to. The first effect that I will show you is the flare effect.
Flare Effect
This is a really cool effect that you can apply to just about any photo but I found that it works really well on sunset photos. Please see the image titled Flare Effect to see the before and after of this effect. The first step is to open the photo that you want to use. Then go to the top of your window and click Filter > Light Effects > Flare. The Flare box will open and you will need to adjust the settings. You can adjust the settings to suit your photo. In my photo I used the following settings for the flare.
Intensity - Move the bar all the way to the right.
Position - X : 144 / Y : 113
Click OK on the box to apply the settings. Again, you may need to adjust it differently to make it look right on your photo. Once you have finished, you can export your photo.
Wind Effect
The next effect that I will show you is the wind effect. This is cool because it makes a flower or something look like it was blowing in the wind when you took it. I used a flower for this effect but you can use what you want. You may need to use different settings to achieve the look that you are going for. Open the photo that you are going to use. Then go to the top of your program and click Filter > Stylize > Wind. When the Wind box opens, apply the following for each field.
Strength - 100%
Threshold - 74%
Edge Affected - Both
Direction - From Left
Click the OK button to apply the settings. If you need to adjust the settings to suit your photo, then don't enter the options above.
Wave Effect
I used the wave effect on a photo of mountains and clouds. This effect worked well on this type of photo and made it look really cool. Open the photo that you want to use for this effect. Then go to the top of your window and click Filter > Distort > Wave. When the box opens you can adjust the settings to achieve the look that you want. Please see the image titled Wave Properties to see the settings for my photo. Click OK on the box to apply the settings. Then you can export the photo.
Please see the images that I have provided to see the before and after of each effect. If you have any problems with this tutorial, please feel free to email me at jasmine_starr_1208@yahoo.com
