Edmond Public Library: Library Review

The Edmond Public Library is the busiest in the Metropolitan Library system with a circulation of over 1 million books and materials annually. What makes this local library stand-out with a town full of local attractions?

Edmond Public Library: Outdoor Sculpture

Before entering the Edmond Public Library, you pass by an older gentleman reading a newspaper. He is always there to greet you because he is one of the life-size, bronze sculptures Edmond has to offer. It is not unusual to see children sitting by him while parents take photos. The Reader by Mary Lou Gresham is the kindly grandfather to all children.

Since he is an outdoor sculpture, there is no need to visit the Edmond Public Library during hours to visit him. An interesting fact about sculptures is the larger they are, the harder to get them right. The difficulty factor increases exponentially. So, whether among famous sculptures or not, all sculptures are admirable.

Edmond Public Library: Quiet Room

The Edmond Public Library has a Quiet Room with no talking, no cell phones, no food and drink. It offers Free WiFi and plenty of power outlets to provide a wonderful work/surf space. WiFi is available throughout the library.

Edmond Public Library: Other Offerings

The Edmond Public Library also offers a "teen corner," pre-school programs, special children's area and public meeting rooms. There are computers with Internet access, librarians, educational displays and book-drop. Something for the whole family is at this spacious, 10,000 sq. ft. facility.

Edmond Public Library: Programs

The Edmond Public Library offers programs for every age. Teens have Comedy Commandos to practice comedy improvisation. Coffee Break is a program for Seniors. Coffee, refreshments and conversation are provided. It's an opportunity for seniors to socialize. Political discussions are often a favorite topic.

There is only one problem with the Edmond Public Library and it is parking. There isn't enough but someone is usually leaving so spaces comes open.

Edmond Public Library: Library Review

Although local attractions don't usually include a local library, the Edmond Public Library is elegant with it's outdoor sculpture and amenities for the whole family.
