Using technology such as laptops and touch screen whiteboards, students would be able to communicate with their instructor in more ways than ever. With new and more advanced educational software, instructors would be able to instantly receive, grade, and pass back worksheets and tests. Students would be able to communicate with each other as a group. Being able to work as part of a group is a requirement in many IT and other professional avocations.
Technology can be used to spark student's creativity. Utilizing the latest word processing, printing, and drawing software, students are able to write clear and legible literary works, create multimedia slideshows and videos, and print out their work for class publication instantly. With each step happening almost instantaneously, students will be encouraged to keep on creating and sharing. They would receive instant feedback from fellow students and the teacher.
Taking a test on a computer system is a lot easier to complete and grade than traditional pen and paper assessments. Students would not be able to see other student's work and all other applications besides the test taking software would be inaccessible to students to prevent using cheating software.
Students with laptops would have access to interactive lessons that would include multimedia. Each lesson could be re-winded and given at the student's pace. Instead of one teacher and many students, interactive lessons would be more focused on the student's individual needs. This would have a positive effect on the student's grade.
A technology powered class would be more prepared to work with technology than a student who was not taught in a technologically advanced classroom. This would give the students a head start when they enter college or apply for a job. Employers would rather have an employee who is already trained in technology than an employee who they have to train and educate.
Increasing technology in education is a very profitable investment in a student's education. Although it might be expensive to supply all the technology, in the long run it would cost less in the long run than paper, pens and pencils, teachers and other necessary supplies. Technology use should be increased in the classroom as it's use in society also increases.
