Educational Activities and Games for 2 to 5 Year Olds with Winnie the Pooh and Friends Movie

Let's face it, kids love movies, but it's been proven that they should watch no more than 2 hours of TV a day. So why not combine their love of a movie and activities that will help them learn and grow? Following are suggestions for the movie Winnie the Pooh and Friends. These activities would also work well for preschool classes and party games for this age group.

Watch the movie

Let your kids watch the show while you prepare the activities for the rest of the day or attend to other responsibilities.

Water Fun

In Winnie the Pooh a flood comes to the 100 acre woods and Winnie the Pooh ends up sailing to dry land on his chair. Your kids can learn how sailing works with this fun activity. Get an empty plastic container or cup. Tape a straw to the inside and cut a triangular sail out of cardstock or cardboard and tape it to the straw. Fill the tub, a kitchen sink, or a small outdoor pool with water and let your child play with the boat. Show him that if you blow on the sail the boat moves.

Balloon Fun

In the movie Winnie the Pooh uses a balloon to get up to the beehive in the honey tree. Children love balloons and this activity will teach them about physical laws as well. Blow up a balloon and don't tie the end. Explain that when you let go of t he balloon the air will leave and push the balloon around the room making it fly. Let go of the end of the balloon and try to chase it with your child.

Pretend to be Tigger

This activity is a perfect way to get your child moving and works well between quieter activities to help your child get rid of the wiggles. Jump, bounce and hop around the room just like Tigger. Sing Tigger's song while you bounce: The wonderful thing about tiggers
Is tiggers are wonderful things!
Their tops are made out of rubber;
Their bottoms are made out of springs!
They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy,
Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun!
But the most wonderful thing about tiggers is
I'm the only one!

Another fun activity is to make numbers or letters on the carpet using masking tape. Then ask your child to jump to a specific number or letter. They'll love jumping and they'll be learning how to recognize numbers and letters at the same time.
