Educational Dora the Explorer Games for Your Toddler

Are you the parent of a toddler? If so, does your toddler enjoy watching Dora the Explorer? Dora the Explorer is a popular television show, which airs on Nick Jr. and Noggin. It encourages children to use their minds, as well as their creativity. The popularity of Dora the Explorer has spilled over from the television to just about anything else. As a child, you may have remembered playing the game Memory before. After all, it is a popular game that has withstood the test of time. Although the Memory Game is still played today, many of the games have evolved to survive in today's society. For that reason, it is not uncommon to find Memory Games that are centered on popular television shows, including Winnie the Pooh, Blue's Clues, and Dora the Explorer. As you may have already expected, we own the Dora the Explorer Memory Game. My daughter loves the bright colors, clear characters and easy to handle, but strong picture cards.

The Dora the Explorer Memory Game is designed for one or more players; you can play with as many people as you wish. As previously mentioned, all pictures cards are clear and easy to see. In fact, many of the picture cards have different background colors, making it easier for toddlers to tell the difference between the cards. The Dora the Explorer Memory game encourages children to use their minds and their memory. If you are unfamiliar with Milton Bradley's Memory Games, each player has a turn of selecting two cards. The goal of the game is to collect as many matches, through use of luck and memory, as you can.

#2 - Candy Land: The Dora the Explorer Edition

As with Memory, there is a good chance that you have played Candy Land before. If not, you should have at least heard of it before. Like the traditional game, Candy Land is not only fun, but it is also educational. It encourages children to learn their colors, as well as use basic logic. With fun character pawns, like Dora, Diego, Boots, and Backpack, your child is sure to have fun with this great game.

The Dora the Explorer Edition of Candy Land is designed for two to four players. In addition to the character pawns, you are also given color cards, and one Candy Land gameboard. Players must move their characters based on the color that their chosen cards reveal. The first player to make it to the "Fiesta," wins!

#3 - Dora the Explorer ABC Game

With the Dora the Explorer ABC Game, you are given twenty-six card cutouts. These cutouts will have a letter on the backside and a picture on the front of it. The item pictured on the front of the card will start with the letter that is displayed on the back of it. When playing the game, these cards need to be laid out so that the pictures are showing on the top and the letters are hidden. There is also a gameboard, which has Dora scenery and all of the letters of the alphabet. A Dora pawn is used to move to each letter. Before moving on to the next letter, the player whose turn it is must find the picture that displays an item beginning with the letter their Dora pawn is located on. For example, if the letter in question was A, the card with the apple on it would be sought.

The Dora the Explorer: ABC Game is designed for one to four players. By far, this is the most educational game out of all of the three reviewed. As a parent, you likely know that it can be difficult encouraging your child to learn their ABC's. Personally, I have found it easier when associating them with something they know and love, such as Dora. That is why I give a glowing recommendation of the Dora the Explorer ABC Game.
