Educational and Fun Websites for Your Toddler!

Computers are in almost every household these days, and are almost always on. Kids are growing up in a time where a computer is a standard and can be used for so many things. The Disney Channel's preschool website program is called Playhouse Disney. Their website is excellent for any young toddler. Each show is featured so your child can choose their favorite character to learn with. For each show there are several categories that include: games, activities, music, and video. Counting, learning the alphabet, matching shapes and colors and painting are just a few of the activities. Using this site encourages reading as well as develops coordination throughout your child's body. When the mouse cursor is placed over an icon, the computer says the word so that your child can associate the sight of the word with the actual word which helps to promotes reading. Another great website is Nick Junior's site. The site is very similar to Disney's preschool page, but features the shows on the Nickelodeon channel. Noggin channel shows are also featured on this site. There are activities of all kinds, and so many print outs. Memory games, coloring pages and loads of craft ideas line every page your child visits. This is a great way to encourage creativity in your toddler. Stories and even full-length episodes are featured throughout the website. There is also a fun recipe section that has oodles of fun ideas for healthy snacks and meals that you can feed your children. NickJr.com is a fully interactive site that will engage your children in learning!

PBS Kids is one more great website I would recommend for your child. The site is not as flashy as the others, but has many great learning games. There is a great parents section that has many creative ideas for using the website as a tool for teaching your children. Language development is an excellent feature of this website. The site is organized according to each show with different activities for your child to choose. Each show is tailored a bit differently and to the standard age group that would be watching the show. Music, games and great coloring pages are standards across this website! One other great feature is the teachers section. This site is a great tool for parents as well. If you are homeschooling or plan to home school, this is a great source to use throughout your child's education.

With so much attention on computers and other media sources these days, it is hard for your kids to avoid.
