Edward Scissorhands Halloween Costume

For Halloween you can't go wrong with Johnny Depp. Let's face it; he's very sexy and has played some very memorable characters. One of my personal favorites is Edward Scissorhands. If you want to stand out from the crowd then this is the Halloween costume for you.

In order to pull this costume you need to familiarize yourself with the way Edward Scissorhands looks in the movie. In order to do this pull some images off of Google to use as a reference when creating your unique costume. In the movie Edward has two different looks. There is the leather clad outfit covered with straps and buckles and the milder Edward dressed in a white shirt, suspenders and grey dress pants.
I would suggest going with the second look because its much cheaper and easier to create.

The items you will need to make the milder Edward Scissorhands costume are:

White long sleeve button up dress shirt
Black suspenders
Grey dress pants
Black turtle neck
Safety pins
Black Gloves
Velcro
Foam core board
Scissors
Exacto Knife
White Face Make up
Baby powder
Black eyeliner pencil
Grayish purple eyeshadow
Red lipstick
Medium sized metal rings like you use for index cards
Grey paint
Black wig in a Page boy style or cut short.

Directions

1. Use scissors to make some slashes in the front of your white shirt.

2. Cut the suspenders and then reattach using safety pins.

3. Poke three small holes in the right side of the black turtleneck shirt and insert one metal ring in each hole.

4. Using your exacto knife cut several scissor blade shapes out of the foam core board and paint grey.

5. Once the scissor blades have dried attache them with Velcro to the black gloves. The reason I use Velcro for these instead of hot gluing them is that it makes them easy to reattach if they fall off.

6. Get dressed in the pants, black turtle neck and white shirt. Button the white shirt almost all the way up and tuck into your pants. Attache the suspenders to your pants and slip over your shoulders. The safety pins should be in the front. To complete your outfit put on black boots or shoes.

7. Using the images you got from Google as a guide begin to apply the white make up and eyeshadow.

8. Once you are done use the black eyeliner pencil to make small lines on your face to simulate scars and blend in.

9. Put the red lipstick on your mouth and then go over with the black eyeliner and blend to make Edwards lips.

10. Set your makeup using the white powder.

11. Put your black wig one and using a comb rat your hair out in several places using your Google image as a guide.

12. Spray with hairspray.

13. Put on your gloves and attache the scissor blades.

Your Edward Scissorhands costume is complete. This is a wonderful looking costume and very unique. Be prepared to get lots of attention and people wanting to take their picture with you.
