Effective Marketers Should Focus on Already Established Companies
Changing Your Marketing Strategy May Give You Instant Success
Customers are already used to the products that they get from already established companies. If you are trying to market a new cola product, then you customer may already be using Pepsi or Coca-Cola. Already established companies already have an open relationship with their customers. The customers know that when they pick up a bottle of coca-cola, that product is going to be satisfactory to them. They have a trust relationship with the company. A customer has to feel like they can trust you first before they will commit to buying your product. As much as you want to be original with your product, you have got to make your product look as closely as your can to your competitor without breaking any trademark laws.
The first thing that you must do is to market your product to an already established group of people that want what you are selling. These are consumers that pay for their product and who want to have something worth spending their hard earned money on. You must examine a company and see where they are making their mistakes. Many well established companies do not focus enough on customer service. You may have found that when you called a certain company, their customer service representative was not helpful or kind to you. You can use this as an angle to attract their customers to you. It doesn't take long for a customer to run away from a company that they feel gives them terrible customer service. Nobody likes to be treated poorly, especially when they are paying for something. You can grab these customers by putting in your ad, "superior customer service." You have to become superior to your competitor in areas that they are weak in.
Customers are more prone to use another companies product when they have been burned by another company that is selling a similar item. Many consumers avoid businesses that have employees in them that don't treat them properly. Many large companies fail because they grew too large without training their clerks, cashiers and customer services properly. They quickly find themselves getting lost in the shuffle of their business. You can effectively market their customer by purchasing mailing lists and finding out where these consumers are and how you can please them. It does help to offer them a free sample of what they may already be familiar with. Small samples will often lead a consumer to want to deal with your company again because everyone wants to feel like they are getting a bargain.
If you are finding your marketing stategy to be useless, then you are doing something entirely wrong. There are literally millions of customers in the world today that have been burned by successful business and they are just waiting to hear about a product that they love and that is being sold by another company.
The key here is to not "re-invent" the wheel with your idea. I understand that you want to be original and the best at what you do. However, the larger companies have spent millions of dollars to look into the best way to design and promote a product. You must look at why they chose the ad, colors and designs. You must also read and examine what this company is doing right or wrong. Tackle what they are doing wrong and bring your advertising to mention the things that your company does better in ways that another company is lacking.
For instance, if you are marketing paper and your competitor is charging people extra to pay for their advertising, you may put in your advertising campaign, "Our paper puts money back into your pocket." Your customer will look at the outside wrap and say, "wow, I sure do spend a lot of money on paper. Let me check this paper out, maybe it is cheaper." You have about 10 seconds to capture your customer's attention. These tips will not only bring you more customers, but they will have your competitor shaking in their shoes.
