Parental surveillance is used especially to monitor babies while they sleep. The parents can always keep track of the baby without moving away from their computers. This surveillance is also of tremendous use in watching over small toddlers who tend to get into some mischief or other, in the play area. You can also keep watch on the baby sitter with the surveillance system.
The basic necessities for a parental surveillance are an IP camera, a wired or wireless Internet connection and a system which can be a desktop or a laptop.
Using the IP camera
IP stands for Internet Protocol. It is the most commonly used protocol for the purpose of communication, inside a network or the Internet. The IP camera gives the digital format of the information that is present in the video. The video data is relayed through the wireless or wired network connections. The camera specializes in remote viewing and recording of data, however far the site of surveillance may be.
The cameras are cost effective in whatever form they are used like the PTZ control or the regular model. This is because most offices and buildings are enabled with a standard cable network. For new buildings too, this method is far cheaper than the expense of laying cables in case of non-IP mechanisms. The functional capability is also more enhanced in case of the IP cameras.
Internet Connection:
In a standard home set up, the network system that is used is mostly done through a router. Here the camera is viewed as part of the IP device. To make the camera functional all you have to do is link the camera to the router by means of a network cable. If the Internet connection is a wireless one, the camera will also be wireless and it is very easy to use this type of camera as there is no cable wire. Configuring the set up and the point of approach will be sufficient to start the surveillance.
Personal Computer:
For effective parental surveillance you need not have an elaborate set up. A standard, updated desktop or laptop is sufficient enough for viewing the video and listening to the sound. The minimum requirements needed for an efficient monitoring are, an Intel Celeron 2HZ processor, 64MB RAM graphic card, 512 MB RAM and Windows 2000 or XP or 2003 or Vista operating system equipped with Internet Explorer 6 or a newer version.
Internet Explorer is needed for seeing the video and hearing the audio part recorded in the camera. P6032 network surveillance management software is enabled with a PiXORD camera which does the data recording, controlling of pan-tilt cameras along with the video and audio functions.
