Effective Steps to Remove Feet Odor

There are certain parts in our body that have more sweat glands than the rest. Our feet are one of those parts that can sweat excessively, especially if we become very active. Since our feet are usually covered with socks and kept inside shoes, the combination of the sweat not being able to evaporate as it should and the bacteria that are found naturally in our feet could lead to feet odor. Feet odor is quite common, especially among athletes. This problem is not something to be concerned about because there are some very easy steps you can take to remove feet odor.

  1. Make sure to wash your feet with soap and water. This is usually included when we take a bath or a shower but you can also do this after coming home from the office or the gym. What's important is that you should wipe your feet dry completely. As mentioned, retained fluids in the feet is one of the causes of feet odor.
  2. Change your socks if the ones you are wearing are very moist already. Or you can just remove them and slip on some flip flops after you're done with your activity. This will allow your feet to "breathe" and not be contained in moisture-filled socks.
  3. Use a foot powder regularly, before putting on socks or shoes. This helps keep your feet dry. Foot powders are widely available and come in very affordable prices.
  4. Mix equal parts of vinegar and water. Soak your feet in the mixture for about 10-15 minutes. The acid in the vinegar helps get rid of the odor-causing bacteria. Do this regularly, especially if you notice the odor getting stronger.
  5. Place your shoes to dry under the sun. Keeping your shoes dry helps eliminate the number of bacteria in there.

These five simple steps should help remove feet odor and free you from your worries. Do these regularly and you should keep the odor away. But if you find that these have not help and your feet odor is worsening, consult a doctor. He can prescribe you medications to help treat your problem.
