Baldness, Be Gone!

Baldness is a common problem that comes with age. It is a natural occurrence that could come early on or later in the years depending on ones lifestyle, health, medical treatments, diet as well as genes.

Causes of Baldness

Many cases of early baldness is hereditary. However, hair loss may also be caused by poor blood circulation, iron deficiency anemia, thyroid ailments, surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Extremely high fever such as those in typhoid cases may also cause baldness. Moreover, changes in hormonal patterns also cause hair loss. This is why, for some women, taking birth control pills could cause hair to gradually thin out.

One might also observe that more than the usual volume of hair may fall when combing or brushing the hair during stressful occasions and vitamin deficiency.

How Baldness Occurs

The usual baldness pattern involves the gradual loss of hair at the top of the forehead. At the same time, hair at the back of the head may grow thinner as baldness further develops.

Once you notice this change on your hair, you might want to consider certain steps on how to prevent total hair loss or baldness

How to Prevent Baldness

Hair implants and extensions available through cosmetic processes are the usual but quite expensive cures for baldness. However, here are budget friendly tips and easy habits you could develop in order for you to maintain healthy looking hair and slow down, if not totally avoid, baldness.

1. Avoid fine-tooth combs especially when combing wet hair. It is best to use wide-tooth combs after a shower. Using a hair brush works best only when styling slightly damp hair.

2. When taking a shower, shampoo your hair only once at most. Check on the level of mildness of the shampoo as well as the conditioner that you use. This will help you determine whether it is safe to use these hair products on a daily basis. Use only lukewarm and not warm or hot water when washing your hair.

3. Keeping that mane in very tight ponytails could damage hair follicles. The same goes for frequent dyeing, bleaching, and other hair treatments that could expose your hair to various chemical substances.

4. Massage your hair and scalp every night before going to bed. Not only will this stimulate blood flow that will ensure normal and healthier hair growth, it will also help you relax and relieve you from the stressful day.

One need not resort to expensive hair products and procedures. Sometimes, all it takes to maintain that health looking, strong, thick, and shiny hair is a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle.
