Effective Ways to Create a Stress Free Morning Routine
Great Tips and Advice to Create a Stress Free Morning Routine
If you work at an office or have kids that need shuffling off to school the next morning, make an attempt to pack their backpacks and your briefcase the night before. You can lay the bags at the front door to minimize the chance of forgetting the bags. Lay out any clothes you might be wearing the night before. Packing the night before can help to reduce both a chaotic morning and the stress that comes along with it. If you drink coffee in the morning take advantage of a coffee maker that has auto-timing on it. Set it the night before and forget about it.
If you have children, make an effort to be at least awake, perhaps even completely ready, about 15-20 minutes before they even wake up. You can use this time in the morning to sip your coffee before they are awake, read the newspaper or even start a load of laundry if need be. If you're up and alert before having to commit to getting your kids ready you'll start to see a reduction in morning stress. Getting ready at the same time as your children can result in a manic environment that is easily avoidable by just getting up a little earlier. By waking up just a bit earlier you're also giving yourself room for any last minute things that come up just before you're about to step out the door.
A stress free morning routine can be best achieved through organizing breakfast in a unique way. If your kids are cereal eaters but too small to reach the cereal in the cupboard or the gallon of milk in the refrigerator, take out the cereal box the night before and place it on the table. You can even measure out the amount of milk required and put it in a little cup in the frig over night. Younger kids can make their own toast. You can even assign your teenager to make a hot breakfast once or twice per week. If you're able to get the whole family at the breakfast table in the morning then you're well on your way to a less stressful day ahead.
Train your kids to take care of themselves in the morning. Even if you happen to be a stay-at-home mother, you shouldn't feel that you have to run around with your head cut off trying to get everyone ready at the same time. Keep a timer around the house to let you know how many minutes available for each morning activity such as breakfast, getting clothes on, brushing teeth, etc. After a while your kids will know exactly how much time they have for each item when getting ready. This will take much of the morning stress off of your shoulders that normally exists in these kinds of situations. Young children have an abundance of energy in the morning, so you should take advantage of it when all possible.
Creating a stress free morning routine really isn't all that difficult if you can master the art of organization. Put your kids to good use and you'll have no problems enjoying the rest of your day.
