If your computer runs efficiently, your work will be more efficient. Therefore, keep it operating as good as when you bought it by keeping it clean. How many times have you sat a cup of coffee on your desk, or had a piece of cake or sandwich while working on your computer. We have all been guilty of that, at some time. Have a good look at your keyboard. Can you see crumbs, remnants of staples between the keys?
How to keep it clean
Before turning you computer on, pick up your keyboard, turn it upside down, and gently tap the back of it. Some bits and pieces will catch under the keys. Use a small brush to clean between the keys working the dirt down to the corners, now tap the back again. More dirt will come out. How many times have you noticed letters missing as you type? This is probably why, as dirt becomes stuck under the keys.
If you have a mouse with the little ball underneath, unscrew this and remove the ball. Clean the little rollers inside using tweezers to remove the dirt. Clogged dirty rollers will cause your mouse to move about on the screen, denying you correct control.

Un- tick any programs not needed when your computer starts. These are usually on C:/programs.
Do not un-tick any of the windows, or virus checker ones. Use caution when doing this. Click on apply, and the computer will restart. When it restarts, it comes up with a message, saying it has changed. Click ok.
Use Shortcuts
If you are a typist, learn to use the keyboard shortcuts for the particular program you are using. Each program has different shortcuts. To find out what they are, click on help and type keyboard shortcuts into the search area. This will tell you what each does. You can even assign special shortcuts to suit you.
