Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops

Consumer Product Review

Although I've seen every episode of "Seinfeld" numerous times, I am still a huge fan of the television program and continue to watch reruns of the show every night. On one episode of Seinfeld, an integral part of the plot concerns 'muffin tops'. Well, a couple of days ago, I purchased a box of Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops and it was the Seinfeld connection that compelled me to buy them.

These frozen muffins are quite tasty and are fun to eat. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is an article which reviews and examines Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops.

Size
The net weight of the standard sized package of Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops is 12.9 ounces. The package contains eight servings of four muffin tops (32). Each muffin top is fairly small in size, so four mini muffin tops is roughly the equivalent of one small or medium sized muffin.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 12.9 ounce package of Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $2.99. To me, this price seems reasonable. It works out to roughly $0.37c per serving.

Texture / Consistency
When I first became aware of these muffin tops, I was very curious as what their consistency would be like. Well, after eating a few of the mini muffin tops, I think that their texture is pretty close to that of real, baked-in-the-oven muffins. These muffin tops are pleasingly chewy and the tops of the tops are a little bit firmer than the main cake parts.

So far, I have heated these mini muffin tops in a toaster and in a microwave oven and I prefer the texture of toaster heated mini muffin tops better. No matter which way they are heated, Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops offer a pleasing mouth feel.

Nutritional Facts
Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops contain 140 calories, with 50 calories from fat, per four muffin top serving. These muffin tops also contain 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 5 grams total fat, 15 mg of cholesterol, 270 mg of sodium, 21 grams total carbohydrates, less than one gram of dietary fiber, 9 grams of sugars, 40 mg of potassium and 2 grams of protein, per four muffin tops serving.

Taste / Flavor
Before seeing Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops, the only reference to muffin tops I had was from hearing of them on an episode of the "Seinfeld" television program. Also, I had previously eaten only one other chocolate chip muffin, which was baked at a local supermarket and it was very good. Before I even took a bite of one of the mini muffin tops, I knew I would enjoy eating them, because they smelled so good when they were heating.

When it comes to flavor, these mini muffin tops pack a lot of it into small pieces. The main cake part of the muffin top features a pleasant, not too sweet taste that is wonderfully accentuated by a sizable amount of tasty chocolate chips.

Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops taste great as is, but when a little bit of butter or margarine is smeared upon them, the flavor combination is fantastic. Once I start eating these mini treats, it's very hard to stop eating them, because they taste so good. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of nine.

Packaging
Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops are packaged in a largely yellow and brown box with an illustration of some of the muffin tops on the front label. Inside the box, the muffin tops are further packaged in plastic. The box opens easily and it also re-closes effectively.

Heating
These flavorful muffin tops are designed to be heated in a toaster or microwave oven.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Eggo Chocolate Chip Mini Muffin Tops are delicious, easy to heat frozen treats. Every time I eat these muffin tops, however, I can't help but think of the Elaine and Kramer characters on Seinfeld, and their misadventures with muffin tops.

Available at supermarkets across America, these reasonably priced muffin tops are highly recommended.
