Ego supports five services:
Mint
Twitter
FeedBurner
Google Analytics
Square Space
The developer has promised even more soon. Ego's interface is based around each service being a different widget. You can add as many widgets as you like, allowing for unlimited sites or accounts to track. Each widget works differently, so here is an overview of each.
The Twitter widget is a fitting blue. In it is displayed the account's last tweet, as well as its followers. Tapping the widget again brings how many people the account is following. One more tap bring how many updates the account has made.
FeedBurner
FeedBurner's widget is very simple. It displays the current subscribers. Tapping on it will show the amount of increase or decrease from the prior day.
Mint
The Mint widget has some backbone, what you'd expect from a full-fledged stat tracker. First, Mint can show you the amount of unique visitors, as well as page views of the current day. Next, you can see the same information, except in the last hour. You can also see the unique visitors and page views in the current week, and month.
Finally you can see the current page views and unique visitors since you started using Mint.
Google Analytics
The Google Analytics widget is very similar to Mint. First, you can see the page views, as well as visitors of the day. Next, you can see the same data from the day before. You can see the page views and visitors from the current week, month, and year as well.
Square Space
SquareSpace follows the same path as Mint and Google Analytics. You can see the page views and visitors from the current day, hour, week, month, and year. The only difference is you can also see how many subscribers your blog has.
Flaws
Setting up Mint in Ego can be tricky, as it is prone to error. You need to install a special plugin to your server to be able to run it. It took me several tries to get it right. One of the most obvious flaws for many people with Ego is its lack of depth. It's data is pure numbers, no graphs, no keywords, no referrers.
Ego is a great app for the stats addict, or anyone who wants a quick, centralized way to check your stats on the go. Sure, Ego lacks in-depth analysis, but that's the beauty of Ego. Minimal and functional. Ego is available on the App Store for $1.99.
