Review

Ego, developed by Garret Murray, is a simple application for the iPhone, which, put simply, allows users to track website statistics, among others. This application is very suited for people running their own websites and online businesses. It may also be useful for people who simply want to keep tabs on their Twitter account.

The Ego application provides its users a central location for viewing and tracking statistics. It supports Google Page Rank, FeedBurner, Ember, Google Analytics, Twitter, Mint, Vimeo, and Squarespace. This conveniently eliminates the need to visit every single website to view the stats for that specific site. No need to log in, view, and then log out. The Ego application provides all the stats anyone may need through a simple yet excellently made utility.

Ego provides simple statistics (page views and visits on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis) - there are no such details as bounce rates for Google. However, the information provided, despite being limited, comes very quickly.

Apart from Google Analytics, Ego also provides support for other plug-ins including Google Page Rank, FeedBurner, and Mint among others. As with the Google Analytics plug-in, Ego does not provide all the stats from the other websites, but it gives users enough.

The one complaint one may foresee with this application is its simplicity. People may want to view more than what is offered in the app. But, at such an affordable price and with the application's excellent usability, one can't really complain much. The recent version of the Ego application includes updated Twitter's widget compatible with recent changes in the Twitter's API.

Pricing

The Ego application is currently available in the App Store for $1.99 only.

Conclusion

The application's iPhone integration and user interface are quite excellent, with the reusability value outstanding. The application gets an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 making it a highly recommended application for the iPhone.
