Ego and Self Have a Talk

A Poem is it Worth It?

LarrWayne Po
A Poem is it worth it?
That depends,
Was a message sent,
Or did one need to be
Cast before the eyes?
A poem could be
Just encouragement
To relax the tense of the mind
As well as other muscles,
That choose to get involved,
Not just along for the ride.

Clenched fists,
Are they needed?
Let's hope not,
But stay on the alert,
A burglar might pass by.

In the audience,
Is a guy called Ego.
I'm sure you've heard
Of him or her.
They are easily twitched.
Some dare to step
On top of their nerves.

To hear Ego's voice,
Just listen to this tune :

I get more pay for word
When some lines rhyme.
The lines don't have to reach
All the way across the page.
I can stop them short
And still get paid.

Then another voice,
Self grumbles in the head :

Articles get more views,
Or did you forget?
It is chilly outside,
And we need to pay the rent.

Conclusion :

So whether the lines
Rhyme or not,
Can depend on
Who is in charge.
There is more than one way
To tell a yarn.

I love your originality and the fact that you do it your way. Both poems and articles are good, if well done, and yours are well done. I hope you keep writing! rcj

If there is more than one way, you will find it friend. Love what it does for me.
