Eight Budget, Kid-Friendly Denver Restaurants

Say Yum for Less

Dining out in Denver with kids doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, I know several Denver restaurants where kids can eat free at least one day a week. Thank goodness, because I have four grand-kids with bottomless stomachs. If it weren't for restaurants like the ones listed below, I doubt I could afford to treat them with an occasional dinner out. Dining out with kids on a budget in Denver? Here are eight fun options.

1. Pasquini's Pizza 1310 S. Broadway, Englewood - Kids eat free on Tuesdays with a paying adult. What could be better than free? Plenty! Kids get to make their own pizza here if they like. Not only that, they can play with freshly made pizza dough until it's time to eat. The pizza is divine, the atmosphere is family friendly and nobody cares if your kids are a tad messy.

2. El Jardin 6460 E. 73rd Avenue, Commerce City - Kids who choose items from the kids menu eat free on Monday nights. That's not the only reason families love this award winning Mexican restaurant. There's the food, of course. We also love the oversized booths. The adults can sit on the outside and shelter the rest of the patrons from kid chaos. Plus, all the kids get a free piece of candy to go.

3. The Old Spaghetti Factory 1215 18th St., Denver - This family friendly restaurant has been a Denver tradition for as long as I can remember. Kids who sign up for the birthday club eat free, as do those who join a special reading program. Read five books and your meal is free. Balloon artists work the weekends. Kids won't forget the cool stationary, hands-on trolley located inside the restaurant.

4. Casa Bonita 6715 West Colfax Avenue, Lakewood - You don't go to Casa Bonita for the food. You go for the cliff divers. That's right, I said cliff divers. Watch the show while you eat budget friendly Mexican favorites like tacos and tostadas. Little Amigos eat for just 4.79. There's also strolling musicians and a video arcade for kids. This is truly a one of a kind Denver experience.

5. Cinzzetti's Italian Market 281 W. 104 th Avenue, Northglenn - This is an awesome place to take kids. It's a family buffet so no worries about your kids disturbing anyone. Kids eat free on Monday and Tuesday from 5-9 pm. (Two kids free for each paying adult!) What's more, they don't have to restrict themselves to the kiddie menu. The entire buffet is theirs to explore.

6. The Melting Pot 2707 W. Main - The melting pot can be pricey, but not if you're careful what you order. Kids under 12 eat free Tuesday 5-7 pm and Sunday 3-4:45 pm. (One child eats free for each two person entree' ordered.) What's so great about the melting pot? It's fondue of all kinds (cheese, chocolate, etc.) with dipping materials of all kinds (bread, fruit etc.) What kid wouldn't love that?

7. Lime 5425 Landmark Place, Greenwood Village - Can I get a magician with my meal, please? Lime may be a chain, but it doesn't act like one. It's family and budget friendly Mexican fare with a yummy twist. Kids 12 and under eat free on Thursdays, plus, they're entertained by a magician while the food is cooking.

8. Sams No. 3 near Parker and Havana in Aurora - Voted one of the top ten places kids and parents like to eat by 5280 magazine. The boyfriend and I took my seven year old granddaughter out to breakfast at Sams No. 3 last Sunday. Her meal wasn't free but it was less than 4.00. Plus she got a cute paper chef's hat to color and the waitress catered to her every need. They made all of us feel like family.
