Eight Eight to Nine

Walton S. Tissot
Kyklos redefined in leagued revival,
Lady liberties stamp on the unity of Nations,
The fat man of Nagasaki,
Haunted mansions and Helter Skelter;
Nixon folded with Ford's pardon.

Insomnia

Can't seem to really smite the cold
Even under press of summer sun hot
Wrought,
Told,
Bought.

Thought

Thought about a lot;
Of mouse and man,
Of divinity,
Of the sin.

Beginnings,
Ends,
Trends.

Everything everyone everywhere ever said,
With taste and hastened grace,
Right up front faced to face.
Maybe it is the heat.

    Exacty! choosing between evils, our end result of ill direction.

    I vaguely remember traveling Matt. Will have to review that one. You're right though, even the simple things are difficult to do "right". Apparently recycling plastic poisons the air to some extent, so which is the lesser of the two evils? A pity we have to choose between "evils" at all! So I guess we just muddle through the best we can and try to sort out "bad" fron "better".

    Yes! Exactly; want and need. practical pursuits are the right thinkng I think. As you said the things that must be done like the dishes or growing food; but even there we can see the flaw of our society placed on all of us; Water and all that intales, chemicals household and for food, and non organics, poisons, ect. See what im saying? Man is in a quagmire; even doing good in a bad way lol. Remember who uncle traveling mat viewed the things he saw in our world?

    Fraggle Rock! (LOVE THAT SHOW!) Yes, they did have the perfect balanced society! I see what you mean about redirecting intellect, rather than pursuing intellect for intellect's sake. By "practical pursuits" I was referring to things like doing the dishes, growing food, et al. Just the stuff someone HAS to do. (The things that it is easy to put off by pursuing intellectual discussions like this one! LOL)I grant that many are pursuing things they SEE as practical pursuits which are in the end, more of a waste of time and money than anything else. (If our society became aware of the difference between what we NEED and what we WANT, capitalism would crumble overnight.) Thanks for the note!

    interesting for true, thank you, and always welcome. No easy answers is the short of it I agree . What I meant about pursuing intellect was that instread of the practaced pursuites of man . regardless of capacity or drive We as a whole, point & have for a LONg time pointed our growth toward the wrong things. I'm refering to the same intellect that learned how to blow up things so well, could have learned to feed the world insted. Our modern practical pursuits; mostly aren't very practical. Primitive cultures depend on isolation to be maintained, yes; Isolated from us and our corruptive ways lol. but in the end, No easy answers. You ever see Fragle Rock? The little duzers build and build; thats what they do, the Fragles like to eat what the duzers build so they are always destroying it. Thats good cause if the fragles didnt the duzers would run out of space and couldnt build; which is what they do.
    Fragles and duzers...

    Nicely done.

    Great poem (love the "Of Mice and Men" reference). And interesting discussion here. No easy answers. Pursuing intellect is great, but not all have the same capacity or drive (and "navel gazing" only gets us so far without more practical pursuits). Primitive cultures do have some advantages, but in their very nature depend on isolation to be maintained. I think the cycle of governments and societies may be somewhat inevitable when everything is constantly in flux. Just my 2 cents.

    The way we as a mass think in the modern world; No, there is no type of government that would not fall into degeneration. but then anything, any cycle, no matter the level of enlightenment, without evolution is doomed to degenerate; governments, religion ect. If we as a species focused on intelect (mental & spiritual) and the exspession there of. maybe. Just think as it stands we as a group; the world over: drive cars, on roads devourering the natural world, powered by a soup of long dead creatures (Gas: very primative and ignorant).we have weapons the can blow the whole world up.(while showing advanced thought it is still very ignorant) ect, ect. Now think of the "primative" cultures the us "evolved" peoples "find" sometimes in the jungles ect, this shows that until the outsiders come and destroy it, these people tend to govern thereselves forever; there are one, or 2 on the planet that still had no concept of money just a few years ago.

    Hello Walton. Great poem. Do you believe there is a form of government that would not fall into the cycle of degeneration?
