Eight Musical Artists You Have Probably Never Heard Of

Pop music is good and all, but did you ever think there's more quality music out there that you haven't yet discovered? well I've compiled a list of 8 artists i think you should give a listen.

Built To Spill
Built To Spill is an indie rock band that has some incredible songwriting skills. They have been around for quite a while releasing 7 studio albums so far. I recommend the album "Ancient Melodies of the Future", and you must listen to the song on this album entitled "Strange".

Aesop Rock
Aesop Rock is an incredible hip hop artists. He raps fast and his lyrics are powerful and heavy. His songs are an acquired taste as they don't have very much chorus and they are mostly long lyrical verses with small chorus parts to keep the flow adequate. I strongly recommend the song "Daylight"

The Strokes
The Strokes may be slightly more popular than other artists on this list, but they are still one of my favorite bands and i would recommend them to anyone. They are a rock band from New York City with a distinctive style. They gained much fame in the early 2000's leading the garage rock revival. Listen to the album "Is This It". End of story.

Say Anything
Not to be confused with the 80's romantic comedy, Say Anything is an incredible indie/punk rock band from Los Angeles. They're sound is something not heard very often as they have a multitude of instruments in each track giving them a loud powerful orchestral sound. The lyrics are perhaps my favorite part of they''re sound. The lead singer Max Bemis has been diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder and that and his "happy pill" addiction are often topics and catalysts for many of their songs. Listen to the albums "Is a Real Boy..." and "In Defense of the Genre".

Wolfmother
Wolfmother is an Australian hard rock band that has been compared to Led Zeppelin, and Steppenwolf, however i think they have their own sound and should be respected as such. They're new album just came out entitled "Cosmic Egg", also listen to their self titled album. You may recognize the song "Woman" from one of the Guitar Hero video games

Ben Folds
Ben is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He has a style all his own and his songs are often humorous and even self deprecating. Perhaps one of his most popular songs is his cover of "Bitches Ain't Shit" by Dr. Dre. definitely give that a listen its quite entertaining. Also the album "Way To Normal" is quite good.

Cold War Kids
are an American indie rock band from California. They're sound is almost indescribable, very vocally driven with a multitude of instruments. Listen to the Album "Robbers and Cowards".

Common
Common is perhaps one of the more popular artists on this list. He is a rapper with incredible flow and thought provoking lyricism. Listen to the album "Basement Evolution".
