Eight Sites You Must Write For

Lauramarie
Good news for all freelance writers there are sites who value your writing, whether you are a beginner only completing your first article or whether you are a professional writing 20 articles a day. These sites will pay you depending on the quantity, quality or popularity of your work. The sites that I will consider all pay through paypal and have established a good reputation in the freelance writing world. Even better news is that these sites are all free to join, you just have to sign up and write to your heart is content. Pay rates vary between sites and some sites are better for beginners who want to get their foot in the door and gain confidence whilst others are more suited to those who have already established a freelance writing career.

Triond

Personally I would recommend Triond to beginners. It is where I started and as they payout at only 50 cents it keeps you motivated to continue with your writing until you get that first Paypal deposit. It is a great site for international members who want to improve their English and accepts writing, pictures and audio so you can submit all three and earn from page views. However I feel opportunities at Triond are limited and I do not believe anyone will ever earn a few thousand dollars a month there on a regular basis.

Associated Content

AC as it is more commonly referred to is a fantastic site for American residents as it offers them upfront payments which can be as much as $10 per article. In saying this I think the rates have dropped considerably. They pay around $1.50 for a 1000 page views and this is the only method of earning for international members. On a positive note the low payout of $1.50 is easy to reach on a monthly basis and rises to $2 when you reach clout 10.

Helium

In my honest opinion this is the best writing site. I believe established freelance writers here have the ability to earn an income from this site. There are so many channels to write on and with the new upfront, empty titles and rating bonus even more ways to earn more money. Combine this with the large variety of marketplace articles and weekly writing contests and you could be earning hundreds of dollars in no time.

Bright Hub

This is one of the higher paying writing sites but can be quite difficult to get accepted. I know this because I was turned down and given the advice to post in their forums to give me a better chance of being accepted and gain credibility. I possibly will get round to this in time simply because the site pays $10 per 300-750 word article plus future revenue share. You can also apply to be a contributing editor and receive less pay than writers. Payout is at a respectable $20 which could be quite easy to reach each month.

Demand Studios

Unfortunately only available to US residents, and can pay quite well. Some of the top earners here have made over $20 000 which is rather appealing. The site offers several work at home jobs including proofreading, copywriting and editing jobs as well as filmmaking. One of the jobs I have just seen posted is offering $400.00 for an article on gifts for kids. Not bad for a day's work.

Constant Content

Another site I would recommend to established freelance writers. Here you can post your own articles and assign how much you want to charge for them. Additionally you can write articles for clients' requests. The only bad thing is that the site takes a massive 35% cut on your earnings.

Text broker

Another of these US only sites, I really think it is about time I moved house. They pay per word depending on the quality of your articles. It ranges from 0.7 cents per word to 5 cents per word. So for a 500 word article you could easily be making $25 a day. If you do 5 a day thats $125, for only 2500 words. Fairly good pay in my opinion by anyone's standards.

Getafreelancer

I applied to several writing jobs on here and got the job within 24 hours. I turned them down as they were only paying $2 per article, for articles I would never see again or never earn anything else from. In my opinion this is not fair pay. To anyone wishing to get a writing job from this site never charge less than $5 per article, it is simply not worth it.

Additionally you can try out the following blogging sites today.com, getpaidfrom.us or orble if blogging is more your thing. Paid forums are another possibility for freelance writers and the pay can range from 1 cent to 20 cents per post depending on your level of expertise. There is something to suit everyone.

This is a very interesting article.

I've noticed in the Text Broker Terms of Service, however, that they state "The owner of this Site shall have the exclusive right to register copyright of said texts and articles in the name of the owner of this Site or any licensee of the owner of this Site upon first publication." Basically, this means that the author waives his/her right to the articles and may not even be named as author.

I guess if you don't mind not knowing what happens to your writing or don't care about getting the byline, Text Broker does pay a high rate for submissions.

Nice summary of 8 writing sites. DailyArticle is another writing site to add to your list. It is similar to Constant Content, but much smaller in scale.
