Many people are concerned about the well being of dolphins and other sea creatures. Even children are becoming involved in helping dolphins. One eight year old girl named Amy Jones from the United Kingdom wants to do what she can to help dolphins.

Jones loves dolphins very much and she is taking her love for dolphins one more step further by raising money to help protect wild dolphins. Jones has written three stories about dolphins. She is looking for someone to publish her book for free and any money that the book raises can be used to preserve beaches in the UK.

The stories are about a dolphin named Dolphy and with the help of his pals Surf and Wave all three of them use their magical powers to stop disasters that are harming dolphins such as oil slick and marine litter.

Jone is very fond of dolphins and has more than 100 keepsakes of dolphins items including dolphin duvet cover and curtains. "There's nothing not to like about them. They are so kind." Jones said this was her thoughts on dolphins.

Jones inspiration for her stories came from bedtime stories about Dolphy that her mother told her. Illustrations have been drawn for Jones' book by her friend, Sophie Stevens, who is 14 years old. One of stories that Jones wrote tells how Dolphy's friend nearly dies after mistaking a balloon for food and swallowing it. This causes a problem for a dolphin's health because it causes blockages in the animal's digestive system and often leads to death.

Liter in beaches is a very big problem for dolphins. A recent survey from Beachwatch has recorded that there is an average of 1,981 items per kilometer on UK beaches. That is equivalent to one piece of litter for every 50 centimeters. When compared to the results from a 1994 survey it was reported that there is a 90% increase.

Jones has a very supportive family. "She is fantastic." Jones' mother, Caroline Jones, exclaims when asked about her daughter. Jones' older brother Ross Jones who is twelve years old has bought her birthday and Christmas presents with dolphin themes.

Katherine Stephenson, Marine Conservation Society fundraising coordinator, is very impressed with what Jones is doing for dolphins. Dolphin Care UK, an informational website aiding wild dolphins, also thinks that Jones is a truly remarkable little girl, she has asked for nothing for herself in return for what she is doing.
