Gregor Eisenhorn is an Inquisitor of the Imperium of Man, this trilogy charts his career, his life, his friends and the greatness doesn't end there. The characters of this book who you will grow to know and love, carry on into another great trilogy called "Ravenor", "Ravenor Returned" and "Ravenor Rogue". I bring these books to your attention for the fact that when I read the Eisenhorn trilogy I kept thinking to myself how I did not want this great story to ever end, and it didn't end there. The story continues threw Ravenor, who is Eisenhorn's apprentice. If you enjoy reading the Eisenhorn trilogy then you will definitely love the Ravenor stories as well.
The thing that really grabbed me from the beginning was that Eisenhorn is written from a first-person perspective. This style was new to me and kept this story very interesting. In this book you will find it all, the love story, the blood, the guts, the victory's, the losses, friendship, loyalty and of course, the chaos! Eisenhorn steps very close to the edge when he goes from being the puritan hardcore upholder of the law, to collaborating with the very powers he took an oath and swore to destroy! One of the great things about Eisenhorn is the way he Carry's himself, so head strong and sure of himself. He possesses a strong psychic ability which he uses all through out the book. Dan Abnett writes this story so wonderfully that you will not want to put this one down. You will keep wanting to get to that next chapter or paragraph to find out what happens next all the while sitting on the edge of your seat biting your nails! The picture that Abnett paints is so vivid and clear that you feel as though you are there, witnessing what you are reading. Even if you are new to the Warhammer 40k world, by the end of this one you will have a greater understanding of the world and the way that the Imperium works. I had a hard time with some of the words used and it really helped having a good friend (the one that introduced me to this wonderful world) who understood things better and could explain what the things that I was reading about were. With this day and age you can easily look up such things on the Internet or even get involved with a Warhammer 40k forum.
Whether your already into the Warhammer 40k experience or just a Sci-Fi lover looking for something new, I hope that you find this helpful in picking up what I hope to be the best book you ever read as well. Thanks for taking the time to read my opinion and don't forget that there is a HUGE collection of books written by other great artists also. It just happens to be that this is my all time favorite and so far everybody that I have referred this book to has loved it almost as much as me.
