There are two ways to cook El Monterey Tornados- microwave and conventional oven. Microwave directions say to cook one Tornados for fifty seconds and let cool for two minutes. Oven directions give maximum cruch at 350 degrees for twenty-five minutes.
Each box has only three Tornados. I guess that is why the box says that it makes a great snack. However, I served a lunch for three by adding side dishes like macaroni and cheese and a salad. I had planned this meal before I opened the Tornados box, but afterwards I was thankful that it was only lunch because it could not be pulled off as supper. The Tornados were long and slender, much more slender than I had expected.
My family's opinions on the Grilled Chicken and Cheese Tornados were similiar- that the Tornados were just not carrying their weight. My son said that he thought the Tornados only had sauce and no chicken pieces. My husband complained that the Tornados were too crispy Perhaps I baked them too long but I followed the instructions and the Tornados looked wonderful when pulled out of the oven. I wasn't happy with the amount of filling inside the tornados also, but maybe I expected too much.
The Tornados tasted good. The tortilla, spice and cheese combined well to deliver a mouth watering snack. Although the Tornados aren't good for combining into a meal, they are terrific for snacking. However, I would warn anyone that has stomach problems that the Tornados are spicy and will make you hurt. I only ate one Tornados and I hurt the rest of the day.
Grilled Chicken and Cheese Tornados from El Monterey isn't exactly health food, but it could be much worse. One Tornados contain eleven percent daily value of fat and twenty percent daily value of sodium. On the upside you gain six percent daily value of both Iron and Vitamen C and four percent daily values of Calcium and Vitamen A.
I bought my El Monterey Grilled Chicken and Cheese Tornados at Walmart for less than three dollars, which averages to each Tornados costing a little less than one dollar. A box of three Tornados weigh 8.4 ounces.
