StopJohnMcCain2008.com is a self explanatory website; its goal is to stop John McCain in 2008. Stop him from what in 2008, you ask?
The funny thing about this website is that it works under the premise that McCain is definitely going to run for President. And while it does look like he will, what if he doesn't? These dudes will feel pretty silly I bet.
This website works like this: Some dude (I think his name is Nate) copies and pastes some quote and then he tells us why McCain is the devil (in about 3-6 sentences). Here's a sample:
"Senator John McCain's base of operations in Vietnam is headed for a well deserved retirement:
The former USS Oriskany left the Beaumont Ready Reserve Fleet for Pensacola, Fla., where it will become the world's largest man-made reef, the Beaumont Enterprise reported in its online edition Thursday. The 888-foot-long ship was home to U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., when he served in Vietnam.'
Perhaps the Senator should take a hint and retire with grace and honor. Don't forget that he is 69 years old and will be 72 when the 2008 presidential election rolls around."
You see this Nate character is tricky. He used a completely unrelated report about a battleship and turned it into a story about McCain's age. I personally don't care how old McCain is, or any potential President for that matter. As long as the candidate isn't senile (or on the verge of being senile), that contention holds no water. It's like saying, don't vote for that candidate because he's overweight; he eats candy bars all day.
But that's not even the point. The point is that fucking Nate is an idiot. Let's look at another example:
"Poor old man never had a chance when student Jean Rohe (The New School) took him head on in her address:
'"The senator does not reflect the ideals upon which this university was founded," Rohe proclaimed to loud cheers, with McCain sitting just a few feet away. She added that she knew what McCain would be saying to the graduates since he had promised to deliver the same speech he gave at Rev. Jerry Falwell's Liberty University last weekend and Columbia University on Tuesday.
"He will tell us we are young and too naive to have valid opinions," Rohe said. "I am young and though I don't possess the wisdom that time affords us, I do know that pre-emptive war is dangerous. And I know that despite all the havoc that my country has wrought overseas in my name, Osama bin Laden still has not been found, nor have those weapons of mass destruction."'
When McCain got up to speak, it was to a smattering of boos and hisses. Many graduates wore or carried orange to signify their disapproval of McCain's war-mongering stance and his continued support for intolerance. Thank you New School graduates for exhibiting the disgust at McCain that all moral Americans would if they new the straight truth."
First of all, if we are going to base our idea of morality on what some New School graduate has to say, then we should all just commit mass suicide right now. In a previous post, this guy Nate had just finished insulting the students of Liberty University ("Liberty is a 4th Tier School as ranked by US News & World Report in their college guide"- thanks, asshole).
I'm not a Liberty fan either and I don't have a problem (per say) with his analysis of the close minded University, but don't turn around and tell me how righteous the fucking New School is. The New School, in case you didn't know, is a stupid New York City private school for spoiled brats; artistic types who shouldn't be making sweeping, ignorant judgments about former POW's (or anybody for that matter).
Look, I don't care what your political ideologies are. I don't really care if you have a website to vomit those thoughts on the public either (make sure you have plenty of ad space!). That's your right, go with it. But don't be an idiot. Don't celebrate the ideas of some stupid bitch.
I kind of like John McCain; because of, and despite of, super liberals like Nate. Because, for every Nate, there's a Bizzaro-Nate; a republican who hates McCain for being too liberal- and I like the sound of that. McCain's the only (potential) candidate whom both extremes hate equally. These people find his moderateness vile and disgusting. And in that respect, he's just like you and me.
