Election 2008: Who Will Get the African American Female Vote?
The Race for Votes Between Senator Obama and Senator Clinton
Also the safety of our nation is also a concern of African American women. Senator Clinton, a seasoned political pro has an understanding of handling foreign affairs. Mean while Senator Obama is pretty much green on that subject.
As the race for the White House intensifies, many news outlets are trying to interpret which way the African American vote will swing. Right now the two major candidates competing for these votes are Senator Barack Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton.
Senator Obama hit the jackpot when media powerhouse Oprah Winfrey went on record with her endorsement of his candidacy. Oprah who can turn anything or anyone she mentions on her show to gold appeals to every American across the board. So with her endorsement, Senator Obama has a very good chance of winning the democratic nomination, despite the fact that he has yet to fully lay out a concrete stance on the issues at hand.
Former President Bill Clinton was highly favored in the African American community. He was dubbed "The First Black President" by many in the media. After the Monica Lewinsky scandal, many in the black community were quick to forgive him. That goes without saying that his wife New York Senator Clinton is also has support from the African American community as well. She is seen as a strong woman, who is no stranger to personal crisis.
It is strange how Senator Obama's "blackness" is questioned by many in the community. Meanwhile the Clintons can pop in any black church in the country and be welcomed with open arms. Former President Clinton even opened up an office in Harlem after he left the White House.
The Bush Administration will be leaving behind a mess of a foreign affairs legacy and frankly it may be too much for Senator Obama to handle so soon. Our next president will have to get in there and mend the world public relations mess Bush will be leaving behind.
Both Democratic candidates are an improvement from the current Bush Administration. Senator Obama is indeed the "star" of the party, but is that enough to run our nation? Senator Clinton has the know how and but will her husband be an asset or liability as the race goes forward?

Post a CommentBlack women vote could well be the deciding factor for Democratic nominee, and most black women are notorious for independent thinking and logical decisions. In effect, they lose little whether Obama or Hillary is nominee since much of the family focus rests upon them, and they are invested heavily in both civil rights and gender rights to make their lives and those of their families better.
Because of that, it's probable that neither argument will offer supremacy in their eyes, and may dwell in entirely different aspects of their unique roles in the family and the community.
yes, i agree, his middle name is HUSSEIN. How can a muslim, which has been so fervent just drop
out of sight and change faith in order to win presidential election. funny eh!!!!! doubt
Maybe the stories about Barrack Obama being a muslim is true and hold some grounds.
Anyway, we may never known what is true or false until something happen which may
reveal. Well ...... let's wait and see...... hope it won't be another 911
very interesting indeed!
While I find it very very sad that women would just vote for someone because they are a women, or a black person just because he or she is black.... it is an interesting question.
This article was needed for a very historic event that will undoubtedly change America.
Alyce, can Bush really declare No Elections?? SCARY
Assuming of course, GWB doesn't declare No Elections because we are at war and he decided it would not be a good time to change leadership. One of the ways he got elected was by fraudently throwing out African American votes in some Southern states. I admire that Hillary stood up to him in the port deal, but do not understand why she and others have not impeached him. His crimes in office are of a more serious nature then that of her husband when he held office.
Very informative article on an important issue!
