For any that agree that the two party corporate system has become a hijacking of our intended form of government, and nothing more than an exercise in excess stage managed by marketers and handlers, with nothing productive in the way of ascertaining a candidates true positions, character or leadership potential in the slightest with all the double speak, flip flopping, backbiting, and puffing of both credentials and expertise, and would like to see a legal and Constitutional method of selection, and integrity in our electoral process, there are several groups working toward that aim.
The two parties it appears have truly merged into one, and it is clear that the label system and electoral process has been truly tainted by the manner in which two political parties have now hijacked the election process, making it impossible to elect a candidate rather than a simply a political party which sets our electors up for not simply being free to do their jobs effectively, but spending more and more time fighting the party system and platforms themselves.
With billion dollar conventions mainly for the network media and clothing designers, rather than as an exercise in the eventual transfer of effective and efficient leadership.
Obama has his hands not just full, but overflowing. I do hope he eventually get's to processing these past two years and what the American people have been put through, and challenges our Congress to actually institute free and fair elections once again. Arizona and Illinois for the past two years were without effective representation in any manner whatsoever...yet these Senators were still being paid their salaries plus being paid by their campaign donors while running for office. Perhaps if the founder's procedure cannot be reinstituted, at least any and all candidates who wish to run for federal, state or local offices once they have declared their candidacy, must resign from their current position so as not to be continuing to collect their public servant's salary, while not serving the public in their official capacity at all - except when running as am incumbent for re-election in the state that have limited terms, which is obviously more than needed at the federal level in order to truly have a "representative" government "of the people." It is clear that most of the members of Congress are in a bubble, because they only return to their districts during holidays and breaks. Originally, Congressional sessions lasted only so long as was necessary, and was not a full time. It's only by the amount of massive, unnecessary and unconstitutional bills which are now the status quo that career politicians instead gained a foot-hold. Now there are so many, and are so lengthy, half our representatives don't even read them. My question, then why not just fax in you votes from their home states and districts if a good majority of them now are being passed and made into law without reading them at all, or as with the 1,000 page Patriot Act, understanding them in the slightest due to their complexity (an unconstitutional law on it's face, and should have been unilaterally rejected, if there were statesmen in office rather than politicians).
Such calls for action need to also be made on the state level, since it is the states and the people that are losing during these over the top, lengthy marketing campaigns, now not an electoral process at all.

Post a CommentYou make some excellent points. Americans are so unconcerned that Obama spent more than 2 years campaigning for president instead of being a senator. Just the other day my husband was saying that these folks need to resign if they plan to pursue the presidency. I love your election system. If I cant have Ron Paul in 12, then I'm all for doing it this way.
No, not until enough Americans get as sick and tired as many have with the "corporate political party" system which has usurped our election process. While the founders and framers had informal labels insofar as their beliefs, the power struggles were confined to structuring a government that would work so long as "corporate" influence was kept at a minimum, and the electees honor bound to the Constitution and nothing else, not party platforms, once elected. Until there are more impeachment proceedings, and so forth of the politicians rather than statesmen we now have, I would agree with your prediction. However, this election more than any other and with the approval ratings of Congress now in the toilet, Sheri, I wouldn't count out the increasing vocal Constitutionalist rank and file now clearly increasing in numbers throughout the country.
Interesting suggestions but I don't think it will happen :) Sheri
