Election 2012: Obama and Boehner Survive

Once in awhile, another AC Contributor inspires me. Alex Diaz-Granados is one of those contributors. His latest, "After the Mid-Terms: Questions for President Obama and Speaker-designate Boehner", asks important questions about important issues. I will not offer my answers. After all, Mr. Alex Diaz-Granados poses his questions to Congressman Boehner and President Obama, not to me. I will offer a snapshot of the U.S. and the world, assuming these two men work hard on the issues raised by these and other questions. What if...

THE ECONOMY:

Unemployment is at 2%. The US Steel industry is revitalized as factories reopen in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The Fed holds interest rates below 3%. The trade deficit with China has reversed and we now own Beijing. Universal Health Care has been tweaked, allowing interstate insurance purchase and state run public options. Taxes have been reduced to 9%, are legally voluntary, and only required of those people making more than 2 million annually. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have become profitable wholly owned subsidiaries of the now Private Social Security Trust Corporation.

THE ENVIRONMENT

Oil and natural gas is discovered under The Great Lakes, quadrupling US reserves. Iran announces they have actually been working nuclear energy and have even found an inexpensive way to ship said energy around the word safely and for profit. This starts a real Middle East clean energy race as the world begins to move to nuclear power. The first Mars space station is open to the public at a cost of only 90000.00 a year, which with such a great economy, everyone can afford. Global warming halts worldwide and everyone climate now resembles that of the Canary Islands.

SOCIAL/POP CULTURE:

Don't Ask, Don't Tell is repealed allowing gay soldiers to serve openly. The pentagon uses the money saved from ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to build separate barracks so straight male soldiers may again feel comfortable in the showers. Gays have been granted the right to marry in every state, however they must go to Wyoming and establish residency to divorce. Roe v. Wade is overturned, but abortion remains a legal surgical procedure available provided the mother agrees to 80 hours of abortion alternative counseling by the church.

The FCC bans the creation of any new reality TV shows. As a result, "So You Think Can Be America's Next Top TMZ Lead-in" airs its final episode. Public school teachers are rotated out of classroom every 6 years regardless test scores or failure rates of students, but they are paid more. College is free for everyone who graduates a state sponsored charter school, religious school or private school. Graduates from the 50 remaining public high schools are used to stock the federal and state governments, which have been shrunken and become more efficient. Federal prisoners are allowed to vote even while incarcerated provided they vote for either democrats or republicans. The death penalty is abolished in every state except Utah, but is only used to punish young Mormon men attempting to date females their own age without permission.

INTERNATIONAL

The Moderate World Muslim Council releases a much-awaited report to the UN. The report recognizes Islam as a violent religion and vows to disband it worldwide once the last jihad is over. Israel agrees to halt the building of settlements in the West Bank. Palestinians agree to halt the building of terrorist bombers. The Taliban turns against Al Qeada in Afghanistan helping move the opium rich nation closer to world acceptance. Al Qeada leadership surrenders at Gitmo and after 405 civilian trials held on the island, 404 terrorists are convicted and sentenced to life without parole. Osama Bin Laden is convicted and sentenced to death, but kills himself after an interview with Oprah Winfrey on her new OWN network.

I think these are the conditions necessary for an Obama second term and Congressman Boehner continued tenure as Speak of the House. However, these changes only take in to account some of the country's more rational current challenges. Obama is still perceived by many as socialist Muslim who still hasn't presented a valid birth certificate. Congressman Boehner is regarded as part of the old GOP, too cozy with big business to really "take back government"; too timid start presidential impeachment proceedings. So, even discussing these important questions over the course of the next two years might not prevent a serious democratic challenge to President Obama and eventually a loss to the ticket of Palin/Barber, not to mention the swearing in of Speaker of the House Michele Bachmann.
