Electrasol Review - Worst Product Ever?

Cee Belair
I've always considered myself a very calm and patient person. Not much can rile me up, but one thing I can assure you that will - Electrasol 2in1 Powergel with Jet Dry Rinse Agent. Just the mere thought and the typing of those words makes my blood pressure rise a bit.

My vote for the worst product ever, easily wins hands-down. On a recent shopping spree, needing dishwasher detergent and being eternally tight on funds, I grabbed the Electrasol, which happened to be in my modest price range. I was thrilled to find the bargain!

Upon arrival home, and looking at my mountain of dishes, many of which would probably gleefully walk themselves to the dishwasher at this point, I thought I'd give my new dishwasher detergent a shot. Great news too! The rinse agent is included; my dishes will come out better than ever! I've used Electrasol in the past and have been very happy with the results.

Insert dishes, fill cups with detergent and voila! Going to knock this mountain down!

Nope.

Much to my dismay, I believe my dishes came out dirtier than when I put them in. Did I rinse the dishes before I put them in the machine that's supposed to rinse them for me? Yes. Did I clean the trap? Yes.

What's going on? Have I lost my happy homemaker touch? My whole future flashed before my eyes, of paper plates and take out food containers. How could I live if I couldn't do my dishes?

I'll run them through again, I thought, now I'm starting to sound like James Earl Jones, just narrating my steps and all the questions racing through my mind... Surely they will be better this time!

Nope.

After a total of three times running the dishwasher, I was able to put my "sparkling" clean dishes away, and I say that term very loosely. I finally tackled that mountain, three washes at a time. I couldn't wait to use up all my Electrasol and went on the hunt throughout the house looking for any and all dishes I could find to use that bottle up. I even washed clean dishes again, just for the sake of it. I'm by no means a neat freak, but I do enjoy a dish to be clean occasionally for eating purposes.

Needless to say, I was disappointed. The Electrasol brand has been around for quite awhile, and I've used them with success in the past. This time though, they just weren't cutting the mustard. I don't think I've ever been mad enough to write a letter to the company, but I seriously considered it this time. I didn't, eventually (and a new brand later) my calmness and patience came back. I feel my life has a purpose again, there will be no paper plates or take out in this house for quite some time!

I know this is a little late from your post%2C but I used to have excellent results from Electrasol as well%2C so I purchased the big box of gel packages. To my dismay%2C my dishes were not clean. Like yourself%2C I am so excited to go and purchase a new brand.

I've used Electrasol in the past too and had good results, that's why I didn't think twice when I picked up this one but good God it was horrible! I don't know if I got a bad batch or what but I'm never buying that stuff again!

Sorry to hear that you had such a terrible experience with these. I would be angry and frustrated, too. I have never tried this particular product, but I have been using the Electrasol 3-in-1 tabs for awhile now, and they have always worked pretty well. There have been a few times where we've had a residue. I recently switched to the Gel Pacs and those are the best ones I have tried so far.

This is very funny and no doubt a terrible product but I still insist my Hoover vacuum cleaner which I wrote about wins the worst product ever award. :) Isn't it incredible how we force ourselves to use the rest of a terrible product rather than saving ourselves the aggravation and ditching it?
