Electric Toothbrush Review: The Sonicare Flexcare R900 Series

Aaron Conor
Electric toothbrushes are a love-hate issue with some people. Many individuals are resistant to change, and they think that electric toothbrushes are a waste of time and money. And some of these electric toothbrushes don't do a much better job than a manual toothbrush. But the Sonicare Flexcare electric toothbrush is a bit different.

What is it?

The Sonicare Flexcare toothbrush is an electric toothbrush that makes your teeth feel like they've just been cleaned at a dentist's office. More plaque will be removed, and the odds of you developing gum disease (like gingivitis) decrease dramatically with the use of this toothbrush.

The Package -

When you first purchase your Sonicare toothbrush, you will receive more than just an electric toothbrush. Your package also includes a UV sanitizer, two brush heads, a travel case, and two chargers. Your toothbrush heads will also have a nice little plastic covering for the head of your toothbrush. This helps to keep dirt and other types of grime off of your toothbrush head. As for the UV sanitizer, you can use it every day or just once a week. Once a week is probably fine. It's a bit of a hassle to do it every night.

How Does it Work?

The Sonicare Flexcare toothbrush has five settings. The first setting is the clean setting, and it's considered the normal setting (most people will use this). There is also the sensitive setting, which is for people with sensitive teeth or gums. Then there is the massage setting, which is generally used to clean your gums. The next setting is the maxcare setting, and this is the ultimate cleaning for your teeth. It's also the longest at about three minutes. Finally, there is the gocare setting. This setting is when you want a quick brushing in between meals. You'll probably never use it.

Problems -

The only real problem with this toothbrush is the cost. The retail price of the Sonicare Flexcare toothbrush is about a hundred and seventy dollars or so. You might find it online (think eBay) for less money. But it's still an extremely expensive toothbrush. Some people also complain that this toothbrush is so powerful that it damaged their gums or teeth. So be sure and ask your dentist about this toothbrush before you start using it. Also keep in mind that the Sonicare Flexcare toothbrush heads need to be replaced every three months, and they'll cost you around thirty dollars for a package of three. With some older Sonicare toothbrush models, you only have to change the toothbrush heads every six months.

And the last problem is that sometimes these expensive toothbrushes develop mechanical problems, which is extremely annoying to the people using them. Fortunately, the Sonicare Flexcare toothbrush comes with a two year warranty. The warranty is supplied with your Sonicare package when you first buy it, so be sure that you fill everything out. Too use the warranty simply call 1-800-682-7664 or email them using the form on their website.

The Sonicare Flexcare electric toothbrush is a great toothbrush, but it can cost quite a bit of money. Still, it's better to spend a hundred and seventy dollars on a toothbrush then have your dentist perform a seven hundred dollar surgery. And with a decent warranty and good customer support, this toothbrush is worth the money.
