Electrical Hazard Awareness

Allie Bojko
Every contractor including their employees are more aware that the total work environment that they continue to work on have more than its fair share of electrical hazards. They already know that they continue to face both safety and health related challenges for everyday they continue to work in such an atmosphere. The real danger when working on any job site especially when you're an electrician is the fact that you'll be working on more energized circuits as well as electrical equipment whether it be a transformer, panel, and etcetera. It maybe even the fact that all of the employees don't completely understand the whole lockout/tagout process that must be enforced by their employer. Only if your allowed to use that process than you must use it to its advantage and if not than use the proper precautionary steps when working on an energized circuit. The many hazards we find ourselves in, in a constant day may involve a laser level used by carpenters, the many ailing solvents and paints we get nauseated from the painter's tools and/or lies, or an incorrectly built scaffold or trench shields. It's simply mind blowing on how many crazy situations that us as workers continue to find ourselves in especially when we as electricians are just trying to do our jobs but yet all of these people continue to be in the areas we need to work in. Although these workers may not fully understand the exposures they face, or know exactly how to avoid the many potential dangers that can not only lead to a fatal injury but possible death as well.

There are certainly a variety of potential hazards that may arise when working on an energized circuit or near electricity. The potential hazards that can occur may include a possible fire, falls and falling objects, and electrical shock. While the workplace may be evaluated step by step in order to both identify and eliminate all potential hazards, this will actually benefit all of the workers that may be working on the job site.

To sum up all of my points in this article its pretty much worth the time to evaluate all the possible hazards on the job. In order to realize that your working in a hazardous job, just take a look around at you that's what's dangerous. All of the other trades all working on one job site will be more than enough to tell you that. If you work safe and look out for all of the potential hazardous than there is no way that you'll ever get injured or potentially die from a job. The best thing on the job is to just suck it up, do your job and obey all of the other trades work. If you ever get into an argument with any of the other trades it'll increase the risks of potential hazards to rise, so be wise and do what's right by asking politely and work along their side and not against them.

If you work against the other teades it's just increase possible hazards. If you work along the various other trades it'll make for a safer job atmosphere.
