Electronic Cigarettes Versus Real Cigarettes

Jessie Penn
Cigarettes have been around for a very long time. In fact, cigarettes have been found as far back as the 9th Century, in Central America! No wonder breaking the smoking habit can be a long and often failing experience. The earliest types of cigarettes were mostly indistinguishable from the cigar. Cigarettes can be found depicting priests and deities smoking on pottery and temple engravings as far back as the Maya and Aztec era.

Cigarettes have been advertised as a weight-loss, nerve calming, and relaxation tool. They've been associatedwith card playing, gambling, and liquor. For centuries, cigarettes have often served as a crutch to get some people through tough times or long lonely nights. Advertising campaigns and movies tantalized viewers with a beautiful and sexy woman caressing and smoking a cigarette.

How many of us can remember using weeds or reeds to experiment and imitate smoking? Stores used to sell candy cigarettes that were wrapped in paper and had a red tipped end. There could even be a smoke-like look that happened when blowing on one end of the candy cigarette. Times have changed, drastically, but many people still look forward to that satisfying cigarette after eating a meal, when celebrating, or after a sexual encounter. Convicted criminals have asked for one last cigarette before taking the long walk into the gas chamber, or meeting the hangman's noose.

Many kids grew up around adults that smoked cigarettes, and smoking was accepted as part of growing up. In the 1950s, many guys sported a pack of cigarettes rolled in their t-shirt sleeves; it was "the" thing to do in order to be cool or macho. America's love affair with cigarettes was about as strong as their love for fast cars, backroom pool games or beautiful women.

But, today cigarettes are not viewed as cool or acceptable. We've learned that cigarettes can cause many health problems and kill many people every year, everyday.

So, what can you do to ease away from our love affair with tobacco-based cigarettes? Oh, of course, we can try to quit cold turkey, but that has not been the answer for countless of people who tried and failed. Cutting back on the amount of cigarettes we smoke a day can help, but usually does not end in complete smoking cessation.

Electronic cigarettes (bestwaytostopsmoking.biz) are fairly new to the market. Some of the products are quite good, but as with everything, some electronic cigarettes do not taste like a real cigarette and can be priced higher than real cigarettes. An electronic cigarette (or e-cigarette) is an electrical device attempting to simulate tobacco smoking by producing an inhaled mist that creates the physical sensation, appearance, and flavor of inhaled tobacco smoke. Propylene glycol or glycerin-based liquid solution is vaporized into an aerosol mist that looks like smoke, but is odorless and harmless to the environment. Electronic cigarettes are primarily used as a smoking cessation device by delivering the experience of smoking without (or greatly reduced) adverse health effects associated with tobacco smoke.

Electronic cigarettes can be purchased in a variety of nicotine levels and flavors. The vapor does not pollute the environment, and does not have an odor. Virtually, electronic cigarettes could be smoked in 'no smoking' areas, however, don't just start blowing vapor-smoke in an airplane or no-smoking restaurant. Most people do not know about electronic cigarettes, and most likely people will not readily accept what looks to them as smoking a real cigarette.

If you are serious about quitting smoking or would like to get eliminate the stale foul cigarette odor from your clothes, automobile, or living quarters the electronic cigarette might be what you are looking for. Besides the benefit of no odor or air pollution, you will be getting rid of the poisonous carcinogens that come with a real cigarette. Because you will still be able to have the feel and sense of smoking, weight-gain and nicotine withdrawals are non-existent. bestwaytostopsmoking.biz
