Elegant Corkboard Organizer

Shiloah Baker
Picture frames, old or new, can be used to make useful and decorative wall organizers. I prefer going for the old frames to repurpose, however once in a while a good deal on a frame comes along and it's too good to resist. This oval frame was one of those deals. Marked down over 80% because the glass was broken, I bought this frame for $2.50. WOW! Who needs glass anyway? I was going to put it in my stash of glass to one day find a purpose for. It just saves me time and storage not having to worry about the glass. One stores junk is another woman's treasure!

Originally this frame was a gold color, but gold is not my favorite color for home decorating. Not a problem- that's an easy fix! A little spray paint and it is just perfect! I prefer white or black frames, or shabby chic with the black first and the white roughed up over the black. That is what I turned this frame into.

Here are the directions for all those go-getter women who want to make something similar.

You will need:

• Frame, of any size

• Black and white spray paint

• Sander or Sandpaper

• Corkboard sheet

• Spray adhesive

• Scissors

Directions:

First, it was spray painted black. After that dries follow with a coat of white spray paint. Finally, the frame was roughed up with a sander. You gotta love the Shabby Chic look! Imperfection is perfect!

Use the frame backing as your board. Measure the corkboard sheeting to your frame backing and cut out. Spray the backing with adhesive and place the corkboard on the back, pressing firmly and smooth out any wrinkles. Close the frame and you are finished! You might need to do a little trimming as corkboard is thicker than paper. Once you finish this part, it's ready to hang.

This can be used for hanging small art, pictures that inspire, notes, ribbons, whatever your heart's content. You may also need to purchase tacks while buying the corkboard.

Easy, beautiful, and practical, my three favorite words!
