Creating a peacock feather wreath is not as difficult as others think. It is just very simple to do. Just give a little touch of your creativity by adding some embellishments to it and you will definitely have a gorgeous finish.
In this craft work, the first thing you should do is to prepare a base of straw for your wreath. The size of the actual finished craft is proportional to the wreath base that you tend to choose. Thus, you should first consider how big or small your finished product you would want to be before making any decision. However, you always have the full rights in this project as an artist. As the designer, there is no right or wrong to whatever decision you make.
Next, gather peacock feathers for the selected straw wreath base. The quantity of peacock feathers you need to have should be in accordance to the size of the selected wreath base. So, it requires you more feathers to bigger wreath bases, and much lesser feathers to smaller ones. There is lot of wonderful sources for peacock feathers available online. Moreover, you always have the option to purchase peacock feathers from a nearby craft supply store to choose for your own.
In purchasing items for craft work, it is desirable to buy much more than what you need. It is very frustrating if you run out of supplies while working for your craft. It is always much better to have some spare than a lack of it. You might find them useful later when you thought of creating some unique crafts.
Before you begin to work on your wreath, check the length of the feathers first. You may possibly need to cut them off or not depending on the expected look that you wanted. Also, trim the feathers and have the quill end inserted into the base of the wreath. Then, tuck the feathers downwards into the wreath base about two-thirds deep. You can use a pencil to help you make an opening in this process. When placing the feathers around the wreath base, always maintain a distance of about three to four inches apart to acquire balance. If you are done, move upwards about a half an inch and repeat the procedure. Ensure not to overlap the feathers that you have previously attached. Do the same procedure for two more rows. Lastly, use shorter feathers to acquire a full-layered wreath.
Finally, you have made such an exquisite craft ready to be displayed. You may furnish your peacock feather wreath with ornaments to improve its appearance or even choose to have it untouched showing its natural grandeur.
