You can make these simple Valentine's Day Heart candle votives in less than an hour. You should expect to pay about $10 for about 10 candle votives if you use recycle glass food jars.
To Make these Simple Valentine's Day Heart Candle Holders You Will Need:
Baby Food Jars
Tea Candle
Decoupage
Tissue Paper (red, pink, white or cream)
Tissue paper with hearts printed on it
Paint Brush
Valentine's Day Ribbon
Red Puff Paint (optional)
Now the first step is to obviously clean out the baby food jars. Wash them with soap and water and allow them to air dry.
Now, have the kids start cutting some of the hearts printed out on the tissue paper. Look for gold or silver metallic hearts to add some sparkle.
Have the kids make a pile of these hearts.
Now, start tearing up your white pink, or cream tissue paper. You can use almost any color tissue paper. Gold, silver, and other metallic tissue paper will also work.
Now, make a pile of your tissue paper. The pieces should be no larger than 1 to 2 inches square.
Paint the inside of your dry baby food jar with some decoupage. Start pressing the tissue paper Valentine's Day Heart bits into the inside of the glass jar. Add decoupage, as you need it to hold the paper in place.
Now, once these hearts are in place you can start decoupage the other plain tissue pieces in as well. You want to cover the entire inside of the candle votive. Even cover over the hearts you glued in first.
Once you have the inside of the candy holder complete coated in pink tissue paper, then add a final coat of decoupage medium.
Allow the inside of the Valentine's Day Heart candleholder to complete dry before moving onto the next step.
Tie your red Valentine's Day ribbon around the mouth of the jar. I like to use anything from satin ribbon to raffia ribbon. This can be your choice. Just tie it into a double knot, not a bow.
Now, drop in your tea candles and you are finished.
These small Valentine's Day Heart candleholders look great on a dinner buffet or even with one placed at every plate on the dinner table.
You can also give these great little Valentine's Day Heart candleholders as a gift for the holidays. Package about ten of them in a cute basket. Go ahead and put a candle in each one. This is a great hostess gift if you are going to someone else's house for Valentine's Day.
Clearly you can make these simple Valentine's Day Heart candle votives in any size you want. Any clear glass jar will work.
Tips:
If you do not have any glass jars, then you can buy simple and inexpensive glass votives and apply that tissue paper to the inside of them as well.
Old drinking glasses also work well for this simple Valentine's Day Heart candle votive project.
You could also use a large clear glass bowl and decoupage the inside of it.
If you have large clear glass platter, then decoupage the bottom underneath with some tissue paper. The Valentine's Day hearts and colors will show through and look great with a bunch of pillar candles piled high on it.
I find super cheap clear glass plates and platters at the dollar store all of the time. They also have super cheaper clear candle votives and drinking glasses as well.
