You will need 14 large plastic eggs, green ribbon, 28 foam leaves, twist ties and 2 paper plates. You will also need small Easter stickers for decorating the eggs.
The Easter Wreath Base
Cut the rim from the paper plates to form a ring. Although it can be done with one paper plate, gluing two together makes a stronger base and prevents folding or bending. Wrap the wreath base with green ribbon or decorative fabric and secure with hot glue.
Leaves
Purchase or cut out leaf shapes from two different colors of foam. Light green and dark green works well, but you could use yellow, pink and pastel greens as well. Oval pointed ends leaves work best.
Decorating the Eggs
Provide students with the plastic eggs and stickers and allow them to decorate their Easter egg for the wreath. You may wish to model with your own egg.
Assembling the Wreath
Glue leaves onto the wreath base in pairs so the base of the leave rests in the center and the points extend toward the outside and into the inner ring. Place matching colors for each pair and alternate colors around the wreath. Allow approximately 1-½ inches between the leaves. Spacing depends on the size of your wreath base and the size of the leaves. Lay them out so they are evenly spaced around the ring before gluing. You may wish to complete this ahead of time--or enlist the help of volunteers while students work on the eggs.
Attaching the Easter Eggs
Place the eggs between the leaves. Open the snap top on the egg and loop a twist tie around the "hinge" passing it around the rim of the wreath and twist securely. Snap the egg closed to hold it in place.
Display the Easter Egg Wreath
Display the wreath on your classroom door or use to decorate hallways. For older children, you may wish to have each child make a wreath to take home.
These easy-to-make Easter Egg Wreaths bring cheer to the classroom and allow to kids to express their creativity with none of the mess associated with paints and dyes. For a mess-free Easter celebration, break out the eggs and a supply of bright stickers and let your students celebrate the holidays this Easter.
* As an alternative to a classroom craft, make your own Easter Egg Wreath and hide small rewards in the eggs to use as incentives in the classroom.
