Elements-powerful and Ardent

A.L.C.
She kept her hair soft and long but she could not control the hard look in her eyes.

Unless it was when she was with her kids.

Her kids...
Her kids...
Her kids...

If she was asked why she needed special days off...If she was asked how things were going...If she was asked if she had bought that new blouse she liked...

...New shoes, dentists, clothes, birthdays, computers, schoolbooks, lights, heat, hell...food.

She worked, and worked hard. And she worried and worried hard.

When the middle-aged carpenter with the well-earned lifelines creasing his eyes obviously noticed her she moved on.

"Mornin'," he said as he stopped his work,"hair looks nice. it looks real nice."

She walked determinedly down the hallway on her way to work.

Perhaps she did not hear?

I just love this. It reminds me of my oldest sister. She took care of us. Thank you.
