Elephantine Moron

At times, people and organizations are carried away by the mania to give awards to individuals without much forethought. Sometimes there might be justification and the awards reach the deserving persons. But there are occasions when this is disputed, branded as untrue and undeserving. This is reflected in the comments and counter comments that follow such bestowal of awards. Here is an interesting episode, for us to read laugh and relax.

A VIP is honored. He is presumed to match the elephant in size and stature and the title "Elephant King" is awarded to him. This takes place against the background of a procession with elephants participating. The event provokes reaction and adverse comments from a group of people. One such reaction reads as follows.

"The person is undeserving to receive such a title and recognition. It is foolish to think that the VIP has the brain, stature and grace of the elephant. Giving such a title to such a person amounts to insulting the elephant community."

This episode gives enough food for laughter. It helps to relieve tension for all including the elephants. Undoubtedly we must thank the recipient of the award, the elephant and the people who commented.

Incidently, I think I read yesterday that Amy Winehouse on stage at the Isle of Wight festival had all the grace of a baby three-legged elephant. Or was it a giraffe?
