People Pleasers

Ella vetted me at length
about the lows of our profession,
then despite her white depression
only threw my cares away,
Till beneath her feathered eyelids
grew the rumbles of obsession,
manifested in aggression
that she barely knows today,
No more drinking
No more coke
No more smoking funny smoke,
just to dull the pain of pleasure
that she risked with no protection,
And while all those years of people pleasin'
never gave infection,
it presented several chances,
many changes in her choices,
till she owned her own salvation,
