Sandra Knasiak
Don't miss out on the hottest new movies just because tickets are expensive. There are easy ways to enjoy movies without the high cost of tickets, concessions, and even DVDs and I have highlighted them for you below. This list is by no means exhaustive, there are many more ways to save money on movies, you just have to find them.

1. Locate the discount theaters in your community.
I enjoy the dollar cinemas very much and frequent often. They might not be as nice or new as their regular counterparts and you might have to wait for the new releases but you will save a lot of money on tickets.

2. Remember that the early bird gets the worm.
Go to the movies in the morning or early afternoon and pay the matinee price, which can be almost half the price of a regular ticket.

3. Search for free showings and promotions.
Theaters offer many promotions and discounts from time to time. Visit your theater's website regularly. I also recommend following your favorite theater on Facebook or Twitter for offers and promotions.

4. Try a Drive-In Theater.
If you are lucky enough to have one near you, you definitely want to go. The ticket prices are cheaper than at traditional cinemas and you can bring your own goodies without having to worry about anyone seeing.

5. Take advantage of discounts.
if you are a student, always show your student I.D. to get a discount. Also, If you are age eligible, don't be shy about asking for a senior discount. Ask about other discounts such as AAA and AARP.

6. Rent movies from Redbox.
New releases for only $1 per night. Redbox is a great way to watch movies for cheap. If you sign up for the text alerts a promo code good for a free rental will be delivered to your phone on the first Monday of each month.

7. Consider joining Blockbuster Online or Netflix.
These programs are well worth them if you watch movies a lot. Services like these will definitely save you money.

8. Swap Your DVDs.
Become a member of Swap-a-DVD and trade your unwanted DVDs for different ones. It is completely free to join. Or, you could always try the old-fashioned method and trade with your family, friends, and/or co-workers.

9. Rent movies from your local public library.
My library has a vast collection of old and new movies and to choose from. There is also a decent collection of popular television shows.

10. Watch movies online for free.
There are websites that allow you to watch movies and popular television shows for free online. Hulu is such a site.

11. Utilize rewards programs.
Join rewards programs at your favorite theaters and start earning points good towards tickets and concession. See if your theater offers a rewards program and join today.

See, there are so many easy ways to save money on movies. You don't have to miss out on the new and upcoming films just because tickets are so expensive. It is easy to enjoy all the hit movies for much less.

Near the beginning of the movie Back To The Future there's a scene where they show all of the clocks at Doc's house. If you look closely there is one clock with a little man hanging from the minute hand.
