E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer Review

Anyone who knows anything about makeup knows that before applying eyeshadow one must always apply a good eyeshadow primer. What an eyeshadow primer does is lock in the color and keeps, or at least reduces, it from smudging, creasing and fading. Unfortunately one of the best and most popular eyeshadow primer is Urban Decay's Primer Potion which retails for close to $20 for a 0.34 fl. oz. bottle. There are many alternatives though but finding a quality one takes trial and error. I won't say that I've found the best alterative to Urban Decay's eyeshadow Primer Potion but I have found a fairly good shadow primer, at least in my opinion, by E.L.F. cosmetics under their mineral line.

What I liked about E.L.F's mineral eyeshadow primer is that it's easy to apply. The primer comes in a lip gloss-like tube and is applied with a lip gloss-like applicator. It goes on very smooth and evenly. I found that it blends well too, and has a nice silky texture to it. I thought that it dried fairly quickly as well. I liked that because it's an E.L.F. product I know that this eyeshadow primer wasn't tested on animals. As for the price, a tube only costs me $3, definitely a lot more affordable than Urban Decay's eyeshadow Primer Potion.

I've used E.L.F's mineral eyeshadow primer many times since I've gotten it and I found it to be fairly long lasting in that it didn't bleed or got too oily over time. I found that it worked really well to keep my eyeshadows from creasing and fading. I've even used it with some of my eyeshadows that tend to crease and fade quickly. Although it didn't prevent it completely, it did reduce the amount and prolonged the time before it started to crease and fade. I also really liked that E.L.F's mineral eyeshadow primer contains vitamins A, C and E, and the ingredients are 100 percent mineral based.

My only complaint about this eyeshadow primer is that I have a hard time finding it in stores so I end up having to order it off of their website instead, and suffer their $7 shipping fee. Shipping time can be long too. I do have one more complaint about this eyeshadow primer and that's the size. It's a very small size, a tad smaller than a tube of lip gloss which equals to very little product. Of course with it only costing $3 a tube I guess that's reasonable.

Despite the size and shipping costs I still thought that E.L.F's mineral eyeshadow primer was well worth the money. It's a good quality eyeshadow primer that does what I need it to do, and does it well. It's also very affordable.
