e.l.f. is a line of cosmetics I only recently discovered. e.l.f, which stands for eyes.lips.face, sells all their products for only $1. That's a deal that can't be taken lightly and it certainly intrigued me. My one concern, however, was "is it too good to be true?". I wondered if you could really get a decent quality cosmetic for such a low price and I decided to give some of their products a try. For $1 the price was right, how could I resist. The first product I decided to purchase was their Plumping Lip Glaze. I had to see how this version would stack up against my much loved DuWop Lip Venom. And you know what? It's not bad.
Here's what the product promises consumers:
Plumping Lip Glaze Forget costly Collagen injections, or those painfully stinging glosses, stimulate your senses to a refreshed full perfect pout with e.l.f. Plumping Lip Glaze! e.l.f. proudly presents a revolutionary lip plumper, infusing Natural ingredients that awaken your senses for fresh, volume enhanced, and moisturized lips. This dual sided Plumping Lip Glaze has a tinted color for a subtle plump or a clear gloss that power plumps your lips, use together and instantly feel the lip enlarging effects!
The product comes in a duel sided tube. One side holds the color of your choice and the other the plumping glaze. You can choose to wear the plumping glaze and the color together, the color alone or the glaze alone. It comes in a handy size for putting in your purse or your pocket. The glaze size is a pearly color that goes on smooth and clear. The color goes on nicely and they offer a large range of colors to choose from.
One thing that I did like about this product was the scent. There is a very strong scent to the product, the best way I can describe it is that it smells like a medicated balm. It's supposed to smell like peppermint but I think it goes beyond just a minty smell.
Like other lip plumping products it does tingle when you apply the product. The clear gloss is much stronger than the tinted gloss, although you will get a tingling effect with both. The tingling does not last long and goes away in about 5 minutes. The gloss goes on very smoothly and leaves your lips feeling moisturized. The color is sheer with a bit a shimmer. I really liked the color and found that it looked very pretty on.
The most important question is, of course, does it work? Does it plump your lips? Well, the answer is "sort of". I can honestly say that I noticed a slight difference when I used this product. It did plump my lips a little bit but it didn't last very long, no more than half an hour. DuWop's version of a lip plumping gloss is definitely superior in the plumping department. But this is a nice little gloss and it did work for a short time.
Honestly, I don't intend to replace my regular plumping gloss with this one from e.l.f. I do think that the e.l.f. is a nice gloss that goes on smoothly and does a great job of moisturizing your lips. Plus, I was impressed with the range of colors that are offered by e.l.f. However, if you're looking for a good plumping gloss then you probably need to keep looking. This one worked okay for a short period of time, but it didn't last long.
