ELF's Shine Eraser Blotting Sheets

The Pen
I was recently shopping on drugstore.com when I came across ELF's products. ELF stands for Eyes, Lips, Face and the company is known for having quality makeup at super cheap prices.

I saw their Shine Eraser Blotting Sheets and became interested. I have normal skin that usually doesn't get too shiny, but come summer my skin tends to look greasy a few hours after I wash it. So I decided to buy the Shine Eraser since a pack of 50 sheets only cost $1.

The ELF blotting papers come in a folded green wrapper that looks like it's made from recycled paper. The sheets look equally eco-friendly, they look as if they're made from thin wax paper but they're the color of green tea and are speckled with brown dots.

ELF claims that the Shine Eraser "absorbs oil, mattifies shiny skin, and minimizes pores." Supposedly "micro-sebum absorbers instantly departs excess oil on contact," while, "woven texture eradicates shine & keeps skin matte for hours," and "green tea extract helps re-texturize skin, masking facial imperfections."

ELF makes a lot of claims, but I wasn't exactly expecting miracles from a product that only cost a buck.

I tried these blotting papers earlier today, a few hours after I applied my moisturizer. My face looked super shiny, but the Shine Eraser sheets really absorbed the oil from my skin, so much oil was on there, that I almost needed to use two.

I'm not sure if my pores were minimized, but my skin did feel and look a lot better and calmer than it had before I blotted my face. I don't think the green tea extract in the ELF Shine Eraser helped much, I think my face just looked better because it wasn't greasy anymore.

ELF Shine Eraser Blotting Sheets did a good job of absorbing the oil, but it only kept most of my skin matte for a couple of hours, my eyelids became shiny even faster. These papers don't deposit any oil absorbing powders to keep skin matte, so you have to blot as often as your face becomes oily.

In the End...

The ELF Shine Eraser Blotting Sheets aren't the best blotting papers I've ever tried, but since they're only a dollar, I really can't complain. For the average person, these sheets will work out, but if you have very oily skin or you want a long lasting matte effect don't buy these. I give them 4 out of 5 stars.
